If you have the chance to take a class with Ross instead, take it. This class was my most challenging and needed a lot of studying. It was possible to get an A, but I've only heard of a few getting an A. This class was always one I was stressing about. Dr. Sabin kept lectures somewhat interesting, but it was a large class with just a powerpoint.

Dr. Sabin is super cool and tries to be funny, but the lectures can be boring. His tests are hard so as long as you put in work outside of class, you'll be able to get a good grade. Lots of extra credit opportunities.

Sabin's lectures have nothing to do with the exams. Exams are very specific from book and he offers ton of extra credit so you can still do well. Decent class for a gen ed psychology.

His tests are mostly just testing you on the vocabulary. He had great and really funny lectures sometimes, but its not necessary to pay attention every time. Lets you retake your worst test and offers extra credit for attendance.

Hard work to get an A but doable. There are exams every 2-3 weeks over 3 chapters. His exams are taken heavily from the book, but there are also textbook powerpoints & practice quizzes on blackboard which are EXTREMELY HELPFUL. Lectures are interesting but almost nothing pertains to exams. Attendance sheets.

VERY boring lectures, and VERY reading/ test heavy. You WILL have to put in the work. Honestly, hard course for intro to psychology?? I thought it would be easy because I took psych in high school, yeah no. But it definitely shows you the intro to college life and how studying/tests work here. Wake up call for sure.

This class is not rigorous, but it REQUIRES you to study. You have exams roughly every 2-3 weeks and they are your only grade in the class. I didn't really study because I prioritized other courses (Calculus II, which I have an A in...). You can receive a max of 30 extra credit points out of a total of 400 (exams are 80 points for 80 multi-choice).

Super nice teacher, but kind of boring lectures. I did other work during most of them. I used the textbook a lot to study and the tests were sometimes tricky, BUT he gives a ton of extra credit so you could fail a test and still get an A. You also got to retake your worst exam.

Knowledgeable and entertaining professor, but PLEASE read the textbook thoroughly. The tests only cover a minute portion of his lectures. On the flip side, he offers a lot of extra credit. Make sure you complete the research requirement early, as many of my classmates who started this late struggle to complete it.

Get ready to read. A lot. He has 5 tests and they are all based on the textbook. His lectures only cover around half of the questions he asks. He offers a lot of extra credit but you must attend class. Pretty difficult class for an intro to psychology course.

He's a great guy and very interesting to listen to, however his lectures have like NOTHING to do with what is on the test. So even though class is interesting, there is little incentive to actually listen. READ THE BOOK.

You have to read! His lectures are all over the place and are not helpful at all. His test questions are straight out of the book so reading is the only way you will pass. He offers a lot of extra credit and allows you to retake a test. It's not hard to get an A as long as you read and do the extra credit.

He is not that great. Lectures do not even cover most of the material on the test. Best way to approach this class is to just study the book and go to class for the credit. Do the extra credit opportunities. It's easy to pass for sure.

Sabin is not the best professor, there's a solid chance you won't retain anything from his class. His lectures are really long and he has an incredibly monotone voice so it's a bit of a challenge to pay attention. Most people pay attention the first three weeks and then everyone is on their laptops. Tons of extra credit available, easy to pass.

His lectures are very random and most of the time do not relate back to the tests. The tests are extremely hard even if you study every night for a week beforehand.

Snore. Prepare to sit in mandatory lectures and do nothing, because all he does is repeat what's in the book. On the flip side, if you read the book, it's an easy A and a fairly informative class. The tests are straight out of it, by the way; read it!

definitely an easy A if you're willing to put in some work outside of class reading the textbook. make sure you go over the sheet he gives for each chapter that has key words and objectives on it and you will do fine. he also gives a ton of opportunities for extra credit

Dr. Sabin is a very funny guy and all but his lectures do not correlate with his exams. If you especially LOVE to read the book then I highly recommend, if you totally hate to read like me then do not take his class. You will have so much reading to do, but he gives alot of extra credit.

Dr. Sabin is a funny guy and one of my favorite professors this semester. His lectures can be very boring at times and you don't need to pay that much attention. For the tests, read the book and memorize vocab and you'll be fine. Also, he offers extra credit for showing up in addition to easy movie reflection questions.
