Comment:

Ed is a difficult professor, but really knows what he's taking about. Not only does he do an excellent job at teaching the material, but he somehow makes it as exciting as it ever could be. Watch out for the midterms. They dig into the basics of the material and really test your full understanding of the subject.

Comment:

Best math class I've taken at SCU. The material is fascinating, and Schaefer definitely knows his stuff (he has lots of experience in the field). The material is tough, but he will always take time to clarify any confusion and make sure that students understand why something happens. He keeps the class entertained. After all, is it Schaefer.

Schaefer is the rare intersection of those who are great at teaching and those who are incredibly smart. His tests are difficult, but he has office hours most days of the week and is a very helpful teacher. Always take him if you can.

Schaefer gives great lecture notes - very clear, great examples, does not skip steps. Encourages participation and will not make you feel stupid. Even if you are wrong, he will guide you to the right answer or find something good about what you said.

He is a great teacher, really. But he is a very tough grader. He claims his tests are very hard, but really it's just that he is very skimpy on partial credit. Don't expect an A in this class.

Great teacher. If you have to build off of a class taught by him, you'll be in good shape. However, his test are hard (although they're curved) so if you are taking the last class in a sequence, you may want an easier grade.

Funny teacher, keeps the class fun and entertaining. Gives good lectures, although sometimes talks pretty fast. Really good about going over examples and HW problems in class. His test were very challenging, you really have to understand the material to do well. Overall a good class.
