Took her class years and years ago, but I realized I want to help other students who might take her class with this advise: dont. Her class made me realize using Ratemyprofessors is necessary for selecting classes if you can help it. The class consisted of sitting in place with no to very VERY little class involvement listening to her ramble on.

This class seems to be a hard class with a bad teacher, but it's the total opposite. Katz lectures and goes off topic sometimes but you'll definitely pass her class if you stick with it. 3 tests (mostly T/F) and one extra credit. Do the readings and you'll get an A

Took Contemporary Philosophy with her. Don't take this class unless you are a Phil major and have a personal interest in Philosophy. Too difficult for a non-major. Attendance is a must. She is clearly brilliant and talks a lot, so good note taking is a must. Really enjoyed the class. Stretched my brain quite a bit.

super sweet lady but her lectures were incredibly long and incredibly boring. She often rambles on about things that are irrelevant to her lectures. If you take her Philosophy 100 class make sure you take good notes and really pay attention

Don't take this class unless you're majoring in philosophy. Her notes are unorganized and she rambles about irrelevant examples during her lectures. Grading consisted of two tests only and it took about two months to even do the second exam. Don't waste your time and save yourself a grade and take something else.

Unorganized has heck. As stated in the syllabus, there were suppose to be five tests during the semester. MY CLASS ONLY HAD TWO! She is incredibly boring. I registered for this class just before the semester started and it was no wonder why there was tons of free space. Philosophy is great but this professor gets no credit for teaching me.

A lot of the reviews on here seem to dislike Professor Katz's relatively old-fashioned style of teaching. Yes, it's lecture. Yes, it can be dry. But if you have any interest in the subject matter, her enthusiasm is contagious. Professor Katz absolutely loves what she teaches, and it's hard to deny that. Her exams are easy, and she wants to help.

LOTS TO LEARN! Very intellectually rewarding professor. Highly intelligent. Class are very intriguing. I learned so much philosophy from her. Class is only boring to students who aren t interested. You can easily pass if you study a bit. It isnt hard to pass at all. I love the book, and the reading she assigns. TAKE THE CLASS!

Lectures are long and boring. Gets off topic a lot and tends to ramble about nonsense. She cannot pronounce french words correctly when learning about french artwork. Powerpoints are disorganized and she goes through slides too quickly to take notes. Reading is necessary and also is attendance.

I really loved her class. You learn a lot during the lectures so make notes, but try to focus more on what she is saying. She has a reading list, but she doesn't require the full amount of reading so DO THE READING & go to class so you can participate. She does discussions on them & it shows you're keeping up. She is so nice so just ask for help.

Lectures seem to go on forever and she gets side tracked A LOT. Were supposed to have 3 tests but she didn't get to all the material because she gets side tracked a lot so our grade depended on two 100 true or false question tests and a easy extra credit opportunity. If you go to class and relatively pay attention you'll get a B.

Worst teacher I've had at OCC. Her lectures are long, boring, & go off topic a lot. Says her power points were professionally made but they're disorganized & hard to read. She yelled at students for asking the same question twice and blamed lateness for not finishing the material. Acts like we all have a background in the class when it's an intro.

BIG MISTAKE!! She was so sweet but learned absolutely nothing. i big waste of my time and money. Your whole grade just depends on two test sounds great right?? BUT she gives you nothing, a study guide that looks like its in a different language. Don't Take Her!! Skip This Class!

Katz is a beautiful person who has been around the world and has a great passion for many things, however power point is not one of them. Her lectures are long but it's a lecture class. Three tests(mostly truefalse), major curve 85% is an A, READ YOUR BOOK or go to class but you don't have to do both, to get an A. Do the extra credit easy pts.

Sweet person but a not so good professor. Lectures are all on PowerPoint and are ridiculously boring and unorganized. She tends to ramble on for what feels like forever and eventually will put you to sleep. Honestly had no motivation to attend this class because I didn't feel like I learned anything. Tests are pretty easy though and mostly TF.

She is a good person horrible teacher. She is gentle and kind, but rambles so insanely on subjects that have nothing to do with the learning of philosophy. I will ace this course but will need to take again. I feel morally obligated to warn people. You will not learn a thing. Do not take whether you are serious about cred. or philosophy.

She has good intentions and is very old school, however she couldn't even get through all of the course matter. We had two tests the entire semester and that is all that made up our grade. 2 tests. Nothing else. She blames it on kids being late for the reason she couldn't lecture when really she can't get thorough the lecture because she rants.

Easy class, make sure to get your reading in. There's an extra credit. Huge curve. Easy testing, mostly true or false questions.
