Barbarese is well informed, and well set in his opinions, even a well supported counter argument will be dismissed by less than ethical means (read: character attacks) He said there would be no final and then with 3 days left said there would be a final that would be 50% of the grade. Assignments vague "Make it entertaining". Do not take him.

Midterm and final were pretty much the entire grade. Be prepared for both. Our class had textbook issues so he ended up emailing most of the readings. He is HORRIBLE about emailing, expect reading assignments the night before class! Frustrating! He did gave me extra time for a paper when I had a situation. All in all Barbarese wasn't too bad.

Barbarese comes off as harsh, but he's harmless as long as you do the reading. He doesn't tolerate students who aren't willing to do the work. Definitely don't take him expecting an easy A. That being said, he's a genius and you'll learn a lot in his class if you try.

Barb is the man. He teaches what he loves and that is clear if you have ever taken an american lit course with him. While he will challange you to actually do some thinking it is worth it, and honestly most of his classes are full of jokes. Everyone should take a class with him at least once because it is well worth your time.

He is a total dickhead. You don't learn anything in his class because of the fact that he constantly recites lines of poetry he memorizes. Does not care about his students and is only intrested about the bad poetry he writes and tellings his students what is a great line from a poem or story. Never take him. Worst teacher you will ever have.

His sheer arrogance will make you want to cry most days. He's not as difficult as most say. Spark Notes will answer many quiz questions. Exams are just the quizzes lumped together and an essay or 2. If he repeats something a lot (i.e. Monomyth), it'll be on the exam. Otherwise, class is pretty pointless. He loves to talk and he will talk... a lot.

I have had enough of this egotistical windbag! Doesn't teach, just reads from notes to hear himself talk. Tests and quizes do not match content of lectures most of the time. Handed out worksheet and had review session for today's test ---- NOTHING was on their - I wasted HOURS because he is an ***! Only a fool would sign up for his class!
