Most knowledgeable, professional, authentic writing instructor in my career. What I learned from Elizabeth Libbey was most critical, helpful, purposeful instruction of my writing career. I really loved this professor. Though she is not the easiest grader, if you work hard she will definitely recognize you and you will be rewarded for your hard work. She is fun, witty and just a great person to be around overall. She does not check her email very often because she has to take care of her husband with Alzheimer's.

She is a good professor and helped me with my creative writing and poetry a lot. She does pick favorites but it is easy to become one of those favorites by starting conversation after class about your topics and writing. No grades given along the way to be sure to ask how you are doing in the class and how you can do better and she'll help you

she really knows her stuff and she really tried to help me. she definitely led me to believe that i was doing well and then she gave me this awful grade. a solid essay with no corrections or advice in her class was a B.

Had her for poetry workshop and intro to creative writing, Does not check e-mail much so hard to get in touch with, but if your interested or passionate about poetry she'll pick up on it, she's extremely nice and easy going. Very quirky, dont expect an easy A but if you work hard you'll get a good grade.

Libbey is a great prof, but don't take the class if you think it's going to be easy, because it's not. She's really great with feedback and is very accessible, not to mention extremely intelligent. That said, the class isn't an easy A because it is creative writing, so be prepared to work.

She's a very nice prof and I think means well, but wow does she make poetry suck. I had an interest in poetry when I first got here, took her course first semester, and now can't stand it. Her commenting didn't help me at all - I became very frustrated, and I have yet to figure out how she grades. Unless you need it for your major, stay away.

If you aren't an English major forget it! Graded according to personal likes and dislikes in a creative writing class. Gave contradictory suggestions for "improving" poetry from one week to another. Seemed to delight in the smuttier poems written by her pet English majors. HORRID!
