Comment:
This is a hard course. Not recommended for visual learners because all he does is talk and draw supply and demand charts on the board. Tests are hard and there are only 3 which make up your grade. (Final grade is average of the 3) You really need to study and work for hours to get a good grade in his class but its possible if you are willing to.

If you like sitting there and listening to him babble on about nothing, then he is the one for you. I had a tough time in his Microeconomics class. There were only three tests which were very tough. No matter how hard I studied, I kept on getting a D. He refused to help when I asked. He gives practice tests but the answers were mostly wrong.

Worst professor. Don't sit in the front he will spit in your face, if you hate Obama you'll be best friends with him. always asks student personal questions. As far as teaching he's horrible his test are super hard. You have to teach yourself everything so your textbook is a MUST TO PASS

I think Englander's a great professor. He's very clear and even if not so clear to some he always asks before proceeding in his lectures of everyone understands him. He's somewhat crude but that's what keeps you paying attention. His jokes are horrible but I think they're hilarious. His tests are a bit rough so study, always curves too. I got a B+

Likes to go on tangents during lectures and there's no stopping him. Overkills on the basics and doesn't go much in depth in class, which may be misleading for the test. Students were always in his office hours but I recommend asking questions in class. The class is easy if you do the readings and pay attention in class.

Hard tests that have nothing to do with the readings or lectures. Don't take if you're a criminology major. Only discusses economics and knows nothing on the crime aspect. Major GPA dropper

Not a bad teacher. Lots of funny real life examples to explain concepts. Blunt in remarks to students which may be discouraging but these are actually to make the class laugh. Expects students to thoroughly read the textbook. If you do this, and do the online questions, you would do well on the tests.

Loved his class. Jokes are very entertaining even if they are a little off color. He will go over and over the same thing until everyone gets it. The reinforcement is very helpful. Just study for the exams and you will do fine. Some questions may seem a little hard, but just use common sense. I would deff take him again.

Englander knows Economics and works hard to make sure that you understand it. His humor is a little odd, but it fits the dryness of the material. Really study for the tests, though, don't just rely on the practice tests.

He's a good teacher. He lectures, sometimes a bit boring, but in general gets the topic across pretty well. He's funny sometimes, he's a bit corney, but what economist isn't, eh? I like him, he likes discussion and likes hearing from the kids! The tests are pretty tough, but just spend a good amount of time studying, and you'll do okay.

He isnt that good of a professor. his tests are pretty difficult you have to read read read and take notes. he says attendance isnt madatory but go anyway. He gives an extra credit paper do it because it really helps your grade in the end.

I liked him. Good examples, and I learned a lot. STUDY for the tests though, my whole class was mad at the test, but if they had studied and took their time taking it they would have been fine. It was not as tricky as people made it seem.

The only way to describe him: Crude, Inconsiderate, Poor Teaching Style. I'm waiting for a lawsuit for some of those remarks. With his exams (your only grades), every question is a trick one it seems. Sure he curves, but he has to, to keep his tenure with some of the grades he'd have to give. Study and Pray, that's all you can do. Good Luck!

Gives you a ton of information to read and doesn't narrow down what you will need to know for the exams. His classes are very boring, but he doesn't care if you actaully go. Not the best, but there's really no other options.

This guy loves to give tough exams. Study your butt off, and still expect questions that will leave you scratching your head and saying 'huh?'. Long, drawn out boring lectures. No homework, and unhelpful explinations. Would not recommend. But what are your other options?? Gaughan is a nightmare. Good luck. More like Tough Luck.
