Comment:

Must study as she is a difficult teacher...I'm a Spanish Major and she is by far the most difficult professor I've had. Although she can seem condescending in class, she is very helpful in office hours and wants you to succeed. Suffering through her 275 will probably make you a better Spanish student.

Comment:

Prior to taking this class I had heard some not-so-good things about her. However, Martinez-Gibson is a really good teacher and knows a lot about her subjects of study. She's probably been unpleasant to kids if they don't give an eff about the class, but if you participate and make an effort, she's not bad. The class is really informative too.

Honestly I was scared when I went into this class because of the terrible ratings for this professor. But now I have no idea why they were so bad. She is incredibly fair, gives study guides with a PERFECT indication of what will be on the test, and makes a point to meet with each student to go over each test. A bit boring, but very very fair.

This woman has a God Complex. She isn't about giving people chances and I believe she must have forgotten what it was like to be a student. I give her a massive 2 thumbs down and if I had more thumbs, they'd all follow suit.

Hard class but one of my favorites. Felt really challenged and pushed for the first time in Spanish major. She's very helpful and available. Study guides are awesome. Not too much homework but keep up and study! If you want to coast through the major probably not the best fit.

I was getting an A on everything, but then all of a sudden I started getting bad grades. When I went to her about it she gave me vague answers about why I practically failed the assignment. Let other students re-do the same assignment and let a student take the final test AFTER she had already seen it. Would not recommend her and her unfair ways!!

I had Dr. Martinez in 1996. I hated her at first because she failed me on an essay I wrote and she was very unclear about what she wanted. But I got to know her, and I worked really hard, and she gave me a recommendation to go on the Trujillo trip, which was the first time they had the program there.

She's nice...but can't teach at all. And she is VERY unclear about assignments! I got my grade down to a "C" because she said I didn't turn in my h/w - and the thing is she never told anyone to turn it in!! So w/ her it's the little things that'll kill your grade. If you have to take her, just watch out for that stuff!!

her grading scale is very difficult. I am a native and I passed with a "c" I worked really hard to get this "c" her class is extremelly hard. out of all my spanish classes this is the one that got me. I think her teaching methods sucks! do your homework because she takes points off for not doing it. first test is easy the next tow where hard.

She is very demanding but very helpful if you show interest. I enjoyed her class and appreciated her help. She is very strict on absences. I suggest this class only to students that seriously want to learn a lot and are willing to put forth much effort
