TAKE HER WOMEN IN POLITICS CLASS. This only occurs every other year, but it was by far the most inspiring and informative class I have ever taken. Dr. Smith's class required work, but she was always available to help. turned me into a women's studies minor. she rocks.

Dr. Smith is a great person and teacher. She only had a few grades in the class, so make sure you do well on them. Reading helps a lot but can be hard to make yourself do when it's not for a grade. She's very willing to see you outside of class if you need her to read your paper or go over some material.

The readings for this course (though excessive at times) were thought-provoking, and Dr. Smith's words of wisdom are truly inspirational. She is a role model for students in that she demonstrates what it means to be an engaged global citizen. I would highly recommend taking a course from her if you have the opportunity.

I had her for my FYS Politics of Good and Evil. No matter what class you take with Dr. Smith, expect long, long readings. She does do reading quizzes too. But, she is super understanding, helpful, and one of the best poly sci professors around. Her classes make you work but it's not impossible to get an A. She's also a super fun professor too.

Dr. Smith is most likely one of the best professors I have EVER had!! I took her my freshman year and she was so helpful. I always hated politics but she made it so interesting I almost declared as a Poly Sci major!! Defiantly take her if you get the chance to!! Make sure you read the New York Times if she tells you to tho!

Dr. Smith is an amazing professor! I have taken a few classes with her and she is consistently my favorite class of the semester whenever I have her. I think anybody interested in politics should take a class with her. Though, I must caution, be prepared to put in a lot of work!

Dr. Smith is great. She wants to have a conversation more than read powerpoints which is very nice. Dr. Smith is also very available outside of class which is nice as she will help you with assignments. One of the best at Furman -- take her class!

Dr. Smith is amazing. She is interested and she makes you interested. Make sure you keep on top of the news paper readings for the quizzes and don't put off your papers and you should be fine. She really likes her students to speak up and share opinions, so don't be afraid to talk in class, even if you think she might not agree with you.

I really liked Dr. Smith in my American Government class last semester. She is very clear about what you will need to do to make a good grade in the class and if you put in a little effort than you can do well. Very helpful if you need to talk to her and responds well to e-mails. I'd take her again.

Terrible professor. I barely learned anything about American Government and how it works. The only thing she really tested on was a bunch of crap about sustainability. It wasn't terribly hard, but it is a complete waste of time. Avoid this professor at all costs.

Don't bother reading the textbook and don't stress out over NYT b/c current events quizzes are easy. If you don't mind the volunteer work you're good to go. Almost made me want to be a PS major but I couldn't stand reading the NYT for 3 hours every night.

Dr. Smith is easy to make an A, if you are diligent with NYTimes reading and can have a good attitude with mandatory community service requirement of 2 hours/week. Outlines containing all possible IDs and essays are given before exams, current events quizzes arent that bad, good mix of media in lectures, and she has a cute personality. Great class.

This teacher is vague, discouraging, and uncaring. Your effort is unrewarded. I was considering Poli Sci as a major but this woman has crushed my interest in politics.

Very interesting class. Her lectures could be more organized, but it is fairly easy to get a good grade. There is a lot of reading, but it didn't matter very much whether or not you read it. She is so nice and always willing to work with you. Class discussions, videos, and guests were very interesing.

i've actually had her for 3 classes (11, 29, and 31). i love her. she turned me into a PS major when i had no interest before the 11 class. If you study for the tests it's very possible to get an A. she's organized in her lectures. She makes you want to engage in conversation and lectures. Very good at explaining the material.

Smith is a nice woman who just doesnt realize that we are college students taking college level courses. two exams: she gives a list of all terms and all possible essays to study w/.; service learning project is fun (volunteer work required); and currect events quizzes suck but reading the NYT daily isnt that bad.

i LOVED this class. she's very helpful and the tests are pretty easy--you get a study guide and she only chooses IDs and an essay question from the guide. you have to read the NY Times everyday but she drops you lowest current events quiz grade. she turned me into a poli sci major! the class is very engaging and interesting and she's fun! take her!

I loved this class. You do have a bit of work to do, but it is worth it! She is very engaging and interested in what you have to say. She assigns debates and current events discussions so that the class isnt all lecture. Not a guaranteed A, but if you work hard its not out of reach.

Very much a research based class. Her lectures were a bit disorganized and our final paper/project was rushed. Great help with one-on-one conferences! Probably better in upper-level courses.

class got frustrating as her lectures got off track. Her major project was rushed as all information needed to complete it was not finished before thanksgiving break. Very helpful in one on one conferences. Liberal bias, but not too extreme for a research class. Would not take for upper levels
