Comment:
I took Dr. DeLaVina for Discrete Math and I will have to say that she is a tough grader, but at the same time she teaches her lectures well and gives many examples. Basically, don't be lazy and you will pass. I aced her course and sure enough I had to study my butt off. She even has videos on her lectures so there's no excuse to fail.

Dr. Delavina is a great teacher. Students who are lazy should not take this class. She expects you to do homework. I enjoyed her class very much. Do Your Homework!

De La Vina is a strong professor that cares for her students. I took her for Discrete Math and 60% pass. The course is the first in abstract math, so naturally most will struggle with the course. Her notes were very clear, and she was always available for homework questions prior to lecture. I plan on taking her for number or graph theory.

In a nutshell, I'm an A student and math major. I love math! Dr. Delavina made this course overly complicated! As a result of no feedback from homework and quizzes and unhelpful tutorers, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN! Half the class failed all exams. While I am in the passing half I feel there is too much focus on proofs. She does teach at a great pace.

I had a few classes with this professor. She is great! She is NOT rude like many write here, but will tell you the way it is. She goes down the row during a lecture so everyone participates. If you come to class to sleep, this is not for you. She's approachable, will answer all your questions if you know things you should already know.

I loved Math prior to DeLavina. She is rude, sarcastic, gives a lot of homework, rereads the book in class, goes down the row and ask every student questions which confueses you when the students answer incorrectly. She is the WORST math prof I have ever had and I have done all my Cal. she AWFUL!!! Do not take her not for all the tea in China.

Dr. De LaVina is a great professor. She is knowledgeable and confident. She is very helpful and willing to listen when a valid question is asked. She is organized and puts alot of effort in class. In return, she is demanding, a student must do the homework. Exams are long and covering all material. Gotta do the homework to be ready.

Her attendance is mandatory she passes around a role sheet at the end of class. If she gets there late you stay after class late and if you get up to leave early she makes it clear she sees you leaving and that your missing out on good notes. She rambles a lot during her lecture and doesn't go into detail if your not good at math don't take her.

Course itself is rather difficult, do as much homwork and practice problems as possible, and ask others that get in for help. Teacher isn't very helpful. She has a slight arrogant nature because students find Discrete Math weird, or difficult to grasp. Tests are extremely hard, says she gives partial credit, but not very much at all.

Because of Dr.Delavina, I no longer fear math.Although the course was challenging and the subject matter was overwhelming, she handled her class with a high level of effeciency. Cons: She was a smoker and clothes reeked of cigs (lectures were often interrupted by coughing) She also had a knack for making u feel kinda stupid if u didn't know stuff.

Some kids were taking bad about her but if you study the notes, you will be fine. plus, the book is very helpful and there is the teachers assistnat. Plenty of help is provided. Do the homework. Shes very clear on how to do things, be nice and she will be nice back. calls on you in class

Comment:
Although this class is partially subjective, you cannot count on the teacher's availability to clarify questions. There's no tutoring in the school for this class either. You can't do homework in advance because she refuses to provide the assignments until she covers the material. So it's easy to fall behind if you take other classes or work.
