Comment:

Dr. Zavras is a really sweet lady and knows her stuff. Yes, she talks quietly but sit near the front and you can understand her fine. The tests are VERY DIFFICULT, but if you study A LOT you will do fine. All of the papers are easy to get 100s on, and she gives you lots of extra points. Not an easy A and not an easy core but you will LEARN!!!!

Comment:

Dr. Zavras is a tough teacher. She has a thick accent so if you want to listen during her lecture sit in the front. She doesn't understand that her students aren't bio majors. The textbook is essential to passing this class, and BI 151 is a course that you will have to teach to yourself. . Be sure to do well in lab, it's 30% of your grade.

She is hard to understand and lectures are long and boring. She doesn't really answer the questions you ask her. Can be short tempered but other times likes to make jokes. Tests were not bad and is mostly based off of the book. Provides really helpful outlines and study guides for lab quizzes.

She is the absolute worst. I saw the reviews, and ignored them but dont do it. Her tests are long and impossible, you cant understand a word she says. I tried taking notes, then almost failed the first test because everything came from little facts in the book. all i do is sit in the class and read the book.

Very smart woman.She is interested in her students doing well, gives every chance to get your grade up. Her tests are difficult some questions ambiguous. If you need a science course take this course you won't regret it. She is interested in teaching you about YOUR body.

Despite what everyone says she is actually a very nice lady, and would joke around with us. Its true that if you ask her a question she will often just repeat it back. Her accent is reallyy hard to understand at first but after a week or two you get used to it. She really does want her students to do well, but it is a VERY hard class and hard tests

Tough to understand her but shes getting better with her english. I can understand her ok but some others can not. Knows her stuff very well though and is good with extra help. Not many assignments. If you do the assignments well you will get full credit. Tests are not too bad if you take the time to read the text and do the practice quizes.

The tests have tons of reading, but if you keep up with the reading and the notes you should do well. I didn't read most of the reading for the tests until the night before and it showed in my tests, but she gives a lot of assignments that she hardly takes any points off of so it helps your average a lot and I ended up with a B.

ok..thers no way u can just read the chapter and get a good grade. the tests are on 5+ chapters and thats not easy no matter how you go about it.easy grader on papers but they only make up one test grade. tests are hard!!!be prepared to study a LOT, esp for a non-major class...this was really really hard

I TA for Dr.Z and have for two years. One, her accent is Greek. Two, she doesn't get mad she just sounds it. Three, she wants everyone to do well and isn't out to "Get" anyone, like some profs might be. She is a really nice lady if you understand that when she sounds angry its just how she is.

Her lectures come directly out of the textbook, with no extra explanations or anything, so there's really no point in taking notes. I read the newspaper during class, and still got an A. Just read the chapters before the tests and you'll be fine.

I read these reviews before taking her class and went in terrified. She is a very easy grader, and an overall nice lady. The accent thing is true, but you begin to understand her. As for easiness, I hadnt studied, or even opened my book, all semester, and I ended up with a C+.

Pretty tough to understand and can be pretty mean at times, but not always. She is a low talkier and has a heavy accent. Not horrible.. her quizes are pretty easy if you read the labs. Not a tough grader. Don't be too worried if you get her.. shes not horrible
