I found the class to be very easy, as long as you show up and TAKE NOTES. If you take notes on her powerpoints, you will find all of your papers, especially the final, to be very easy. If you tend to skip class and do not take notes, you will find yourself having trouble. Overall, I enjoyed the class, got an A. If you put in the effort, you pass.

It looks like my review on her was deleted so I'll repeat myself. She's kind of rude and she refuses to give students the chance to make up work. Even if you're absent but turned in your work through email and gave her proof of why you couldn't be there, she'll still give a bad grade. Seems more like a Chinese history class than sociology.

I didn't find Fang Deng to be that bad. If you take all of the notes for her class off the slides and use your notes and book, you'll do fine on her open book exams. She's really funny and a lot of the class liked her as a person, even if everyone wasn't a fan of her teaching style. I found the open book tests and homeworks to be perfectly doable.

She's really nice and is super unaware of how hilarious she is. Easy grader. Easy class. Take notes. Couple of small papers and 1 big paper which is easy too.

Feng Deng was very enjoyable. I took two of her classes last semester. You need to give her a chance. And be patient. She is very wise. If you are respectful to her, she will be respectful to you.

took this course for sociology elective: east Asian societies China & Japan. Her teaching style is very abstract. I understood her fine, even with her accent. Assigned several papers and one presentation. The hardest part about this class was trying to pay attention. She heavily uses powerpoint and does not ask for participation much. An okay class

This prof is awful. I was out sick and she was really rude about it. she shamed students and talked about private things in front of the entire class. she speaks way to fast and expects that everything is to be written down by the time shes finished speaking so you learn nothing b/c all of your focus is on writing. shes very hard to understand.

This teacher is terrible! She doesn't offer help or extra credit and is down right rude! She goes way too fast reading her notes and expects students to be able to write everything down as fast as she talks. Its not possible! All she does is read from her powerpoints & doesnt even explain what she is talking about. she just expects you to know it.

She's an easy grader, but teaches irrelevant material. Our most recent quiz didn't have anything from the lecture notes or the book. She is unorganized and doesn't stick to the syllabus. Most of the course was films about China that didn't relate back to the book/other course materials. I've learned nothing about sociology and am disappointed.

Stay away from her. She is so hard to understand and is very unclear about what she wants you to do. She grades very easily but you will learn nothing. It is simply a joke of a class. She is always talking about how she lived in China her entire life and it is better than America. It is annoying. This class should be called Intro to Chinese Culture

I got an A on every paper and test and knew the material better than anyone in the class. The thing is I skipped this class a lot because I already knew the material and wound up with a D. Its too bad that college has turned into high school in many classes like this. My fault though, so if you take her make sure you don't skip a lot.

Took her globalization class for 2nd year seminar. Very easy grader, clear with what she expects of you. Strict on attendance though, but her accent is amusing sometimes. I recommend this teacher if you're looking for an easy a, just go to class and take notes cuz the final is open notebook.

Great teacher, very specific with what she expects. Easy assignments with very easy grading. You watch a lot of movies and then write papers (VERY EASY papers). I learned a lot. Feng Deng is a very experienced lady. She is not very difficult to understand like others are saying.

Avoid her if possible. Uses the same material for more then one class but expects students to somehow make it relate to the course.I have never gotten a grade lower then a B- on a paper and she gave me a D, when I tried to speak with her about she got angry and was defensive and asked me to leave. DO NOT TAKE HER!!

shes a very easy grader. as long as you write the papers (most are 2pgs) youll be fine. get on her good side and she'll love you. shes hilarious without knowing it. we watch movies and take notes off powerpoints everyday. attendance is mandatory but also counts as 10% of your grade. boring but easy class, take her!

She's alright and yeah, she has an accent, but she's easy to understand, so don't worry. It's also a really easy class. I got A's without reading and the papers were easy to BS. Plus you watch a lot of movies. If you want an easy course, take it. If you want to learn, find another class.

She is very hard to understand language0wise and instruction-wise, and very rude to students. She knows what she's talking about but she doesn't know how to teach it. If you can help it, do not take a class with her.

okay, this class really needs to be called History of China because that is all she talks about. We talked about terrorism and how it relates to China. It is not a bad class, just be prepared to feel like you suck as Americans
