Professor Meuser is clear in her expectations and fair in how she grades. You will only achieve a good grade and understanding if you can put forth the effort required, so expect to read a great deal. Her powerpoints are integral to a positive and successful experience.

Took this over the summer. It was a lot of work and took up a lot of my free time but it was worth it! Relatively easy class, hardest part was having to read several books in one week. Each novel had a 10 question quiz, very easy though. Midterm and final was difficult because you had to answer 35 questions in 20 minutes but it was doable!

She is not as bad as people make her out to be. She wants you to show up to every class which is somewhat understandable but everyone needs to miss a day or two. She is understanding if you are going through rough times and whatnot and she helps you if you need ask.

She is a complete and total mess. Can't speak spanish for the life of her and yet she's the head of the department for Spanish teachers. She's lazy as a dog on a Sunday afternoon. Doesn't give crap about her students. She's the devil.

Acts like she loves to teach and socialize with students, but not good teacher. HUGE ego, can TURN on a student quickly, MEAN to natives and guys. Good textbook knowledge but she NEEDS a GOOD conversation class. Suck up, smile and act amused at her "ta ta ta" and you will do fine. Would not recommend if you want to improve spoken spanish.

Self-centered, arrogant, boorish, doesn't speak much Spanish, and of that not very well, doesn't like people, likes to talk about herself, every class, dishonest, hates Latinos, extremely jealous person, prefers females to men, anti social, will argue on points needing clarification in the class, not open to questions, the WORST professor at O.U.

God awful, incomprehensible, LOVES talking about herself and little else, hates men, doesn't like latinos or native speakers, unencouraging, unhelpful, the worst professor at Oakland University. Needs to retire before further damage is done.

Absolutely God-awful. Poor pronunciation, controlling, not open to new ideas, boorish, know-it-all who knows nothing, should do everyone a favor and retire. Does not like men. Anti-latino. Kiss her ass and you'll do fine, but learn squat.

She will go out of her way to help you if you are a female. Does not like men. Very pig-headed and boorish. The absolute WORST professor EVER. I don't think she can read or write Spanish, but she certainly can't speak it

Ridiculously terrible pronunciation! Tells us that she is shocked by mistakes we make on our papers, yet makes the same mistakes in her own speech! If you ask her a short question, prepare to hear a five minute lecture on something unrelated...

take a class with Fran for 100 level classes-NOT if you're a Spanish minor/major. She is helpful & usually nice, but can't speak spanish, is intimidated by native speakers, and never lets students discuss without interrupting and running her spanglish show. She knows her lit, but 3/400 level classes are a waste of time, money, & brain usage.

She really loved this class, but I'm pretty sure none of us did. We had to read an entire book each week to always talk about the same thing in class. THE NEW WORLD. you can tell that she's a Spanish teacher and a literature teacher, because all of our discussions came back to that, despite our class description.

i was not too interested in the subject material, but overall she was a good prof, she loves what she does which helps make the course a bit more interesting, taking this course once a week makes attendance a must, and regular contribution to class discussion is expected, and reading is necessary for the course

She is a little bit disorganized, but she loves Spanish. The class was taught in English. She tells you exactly what will be on the exams (no final) but they are somewhat hard. Do the reading (there are online quizzes) but she will help you however she can. I would recommend her, but not if you want to be taught in Spanish.

Comment:
The professor tries really hard, but unsucessfully I'm afraid. Her Spanish isn't what it should be and her class is disorganized and confusing. She speaks English way too much. Overall I think she is a nice person, but her teaching skills are lacking. She's worried more about impressing us with her credentials, than making sure we're learning.
