This is the best professor I have ever studied from. When I took the same course during my undergrad days with a different professor, I barely passed. Costanzo made me fall in love with the subject head over heels. Take every single course with this professor that you can while you are at Penn State. He is a TRUE GEM.

Insanely smart professor - you will learn a lot from his class. Be prepared to feel stupid at least once a day in his class when he flies through a derivation or something, but he really cares about his students learning.

He teaches dynamics on a different level .. compared to all other physics/statics/dynamics professor I had before. He explains every little important detail you need to understand the theory. He emphasizes the limitations of a given theory so one would not use it in the wrong place. Definitely take his class "if" you are not lazy!

Dr. Costanzo is probably the best professor I have had so far. The class is challenging. He does so many example problems in class that are very helpful. Costanzo is very good at answering your questions and making sure you understand material. Take his course if you can.

Like others have said, Costanzo is one of the best teachers you can have. The material may be difficult in places but he does his best to explain it as clearly as possible. Not many others have said this, but Costanzo also has the neatest and most consistent handwriting I've ever seen - so you won't get lost in that regard.

Francesco is the best professor you will ever have the opportunity to take at Penn State. He is incredibly intelligent, forthright in his expectations, and genuine about his role as an instructor. I will try to take as many classes with him as I can, and cannot recommend him enough. He changed the way I look at engineering and learning as a whole.

He seems like he hates teaching and his job, but he's extremely helpful in office hours. He'll walk you step by step through the hw. Gives plenty of examples in class and encourages questions. HW is difficult and long sometimes but thats engineering, not him. Tests are reasonable given how difficult the material is. No need to read the book.

The Good: This professor is the best around. Believe me, I've looked. He explains every single problem as well as can be explained. He encourages questions and makes you feel good about asking them with the way he answers. Wonderful professor. TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!!! The Bad: This is a HARD class for most people, me including. The Ugly: None, he's HOT!!

Overall great professor! He explains things in the clearest way possible and his exams are pretty easy. Dr. Costanzo also likes to throw some humor into the class and demonstrates were things are applicable in real-life. Easily the best professor I've ever had at PSU and makes Dyanmics a breeze.

I'm glad to see that people in later versions of his Continuum class had good experience. I took it the first year he taught it, and it was not good. We spent from august until the first week of december on (insert outrageous italian accent here) "Mathematical Preliminaries". Very passionate and good guy.

Great teacher. Italian accent, but doesn't hinder speech. Used many many examples to get the ideas across. Often times went over HW problems in class that were hard before they were due. I learned statics really well from him and got an A. KNowing statics well from him makes EMCH 12 & 13 seem like a joke to me right now. Easy grader.

Thrilling!!! It will make you feel standing on a giant's shoulder. This class will help you conquer the toughest stuff of mechanics. I took this class eight years ago and now I am working in a R&D lab. I still feel the benefit of this class everyday. This was the best class I have ever taken.

I took his graduate level continuum mechanics course and absolutely loved it. He has a clear and thorough understanding of the subject and is very willing to spend time outside of class to go over the difficult material. You will work very hard in his course, but end up learning a lot. He connects mathematics with practical applications very well.

Extremely tough class, but Costanza is an excellent prof. I think I learned more in his class than I have in any other class so far here at Penn State. Expect to be challenged, and occasionally frustrated, but he's ready and willing to help. I'd take him again if the opportunity arose.

The class was pretty difficult, however I think that was because he was used to teaching 400 level EMCHs. Overall he was always willing to help and funny during lectures. The class itself was difficult, but I learned alot.

I'd say an above average prof. It's a really hard class at the beginning but he does a good job teaching it and it gets better toward the end of the semester.
