Paz was my FAVORITE literature professor. Pompous, egotistical and a true thespian! His Shakespeare classes were highly entertaining and there was NO doubt that he knew his stuff! He was very kind to me when I had a family emergency and was out for a week - he even let me take a midterm in his office and use his desk. Thanks for the memories!

I hated him at the beginning of the year because he's out of his mind sometimes. After a while though, he starts to grow on you. You just need to take his arrogance lightly (if possible) and stay out of arguments with him because you WILL lose even if you are 100% right.

Paz is the man! He is witty and knows ALOT about his subject. If you can take his egotism and teasing lightly then you will have alot of fun with his classes. He is arrogant but it just adds to his charm. spring 06 is his last semester at NP so i suggest taking him while you still can! (Oh yeah, there is no "like" allowed in his classroom!)

absolutely out of his mind: the toughest grader I've ever dealt with, but it makes you step up a little and choose your words carefully. too arrogant, and will argue with you without listening to your point- in other words, will argue with you without know what he's arguing. talks at you, not with you.

Paz is probably the most knowledgeable professor at New paltz about his subject. yes- he is chauvenistic, ****, a hard grader, rude, arrogant and rather unfriendly, but you will learn a lot from him and he is very clear on what will be on exams. not any homework, one paper, midterm and final. i do recommend him.

everyone agrees that he knows what he's talking about, but he thinks YOU don't.he isn't creative, doesn't listen, takes the license to flirt with or insult & ridicule the students according to his mood. very subjective, old school, & boring.i love shakespeare & did well in the class, so i have no vendetta. it's just the truth. take olsen for sure.

Paz is from an old-school, Ivy League teaching mentality and has a laissez-faire way of teaching. In order to succeed, pay close attention in class, study for an hour after class and for tests, and ask him for help if necessary. He cares about students who try and is witty and challenging.

This man is the worst teacher I have ever had and he needs to be fired. He does not explain what he is looking for, has an giant ego and does not stick to the topic. He makes fun of students constantly and likes to point out how much he knows, do not take this class if you want to learn about shakes

Very boring and self-absorbed professor. Thinks only his opinion matters, has no respect for other opinions or creative expression. Dismisses class early because HE'S bored. Babbles on about politics (is this what you paid for?) and food like "tofu" that you must know (for some reason?) he dislikes.

Passionate about shakespeare but the worst professor I had in my life. He knows his stuff but makes fun of people in class. Not helpful. Acts like it's a grad course take Olsen instead. Most students get Fs or Cs. You have to do A work for a B doesnt give a A+

A brilliant man with an enormous ego. If you follow his lead with literature & ignore certain quirky personality traits (odd sense of humor & enormous sense of self) you'll learn a lot. One of the best professors I've ever had. Take him if you can - you'll count yourself lucky afterward.

I love this class. He has a tendency to rant about his hate for Bush but is so knowledgeable about the subject matter and he makes it interesting. I actually look forward to going to class. just so you know his "quizzes" actually account for a quarter of your grade he grades by how much you write

Loves Shakespeare. Which I guess is fine if you're teaching about his works. An overall fine teacher. Boring class though. Basically just read the plays in class and sometimes he comments. Know the characters of the plays really well. Even the minor ones or your screwed.
