He is not very interested in the class. Gives instructions and you must stick to them or you will be marked down for it. If you like to miss class then forget this professor. Labs everyday and you can not make them up. If you show up and study you will pass.

By far the worst teacher I've ever had, he was gone from class for 4 weeks, he did not warn us he would be gone so long nor how things would be when he returned, the sub was not a science prof and was unable to help us. When he showed back up to class he gave us the midterm, unprepared. If you need/like a caring and organized prof he's not it.

DeGroot is funny. Sometimes he looks bored when lecturing and he doesn't always explain things as well as I would like, BUT he will answer every question and he very much encourages students to visit him after class. He'll say that hes required to have office hours and he'll be sitting there bored unless you visit him. Hes a lenient grader.

I had him for Scientific Inquiry and he was fun. Every activity you do is in a group and he gives clear study guides that closely follow tests. Strict grader on quizzes/exams but he gives you everything you need to know and everything he is looking for. The book is used for reference of certain key terms. Great professor. Learned a lot.

One can tell that he loathes the inquiry class. Frankly, I don't blame him. The class is boring. He is a good instructor. I wish that I would have taken physics instead of this class. I wish that I could understand why this class is offered as an honors course.

DeGroot is amazing, so much so that I was really concerned when he didn't initially sign up to teach physics 2. He breaks a very complicated topic down into easily managed lectures and tries to help you see the "physics way" of thinking rather than focusing on how to solve specific types of problems. Amazing professor.

He is a very good teacher. He makes students laugh, and is available outside of class if you have any questions. He goes over material well. You need to study for his tests, but if you study you shouldn't fail. He is not there to fail you.

DeGroot is one of the best science prof that I've had here at MCC and he was excellent! Lectures are never boring and he always adds a hint of humor to them as well. Very approachable and available for help outside of class. Class isn't easy so make sure to get help if you're stuck! Loved the class overall and enjoyed Physics!

Easy science class! It is a long class and you will be marked down if you leave early. If you are a person who can not keep a notebook organized then don't think about this class, he grades you based on notebooks that have all the work collected and everything written in (he grades twice). its a lot of writing too!

Class is super tough, but does offer help at office hours. Tests are usually 12 questions with omit 1 and 1 for bonus points. Great professor. Be ready to study a lot to pass with a decent grade. 4 tests, 1 midterm and 1 final (cumulative).

Very scary subject, but DeGroot made it very clear and always interesting. If you don't understand something that he goes over in class, ask him about it! Because there are no surprises on the test, every problem that he goes over, you need to understand.

DeGroot is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He's very knowledgeable and is always eager to help. He may seem mean, cruel, vicious and socially unacceptable at times, but he actually takes it easy on the grading. DeGroot teaches hard classes and you should expect to do lots of homework and be very precise on the labs.

He is boring and his same jokes become annoying. His tests are the hw and notes, but he assumes that everyone learns his way. Units are everything. A point off for every mistake. I don't think he's a very good teacher.

Great teacher. Very kind and willing to help you understand. He's also a pretty funny guy as well. Many people taking the class that I had him in were not science majors, he definitely did his best to help everyone understand.
