She truly cares about each and every one of her students. She is very friendly and helpful. She really works to be the best professor she can be, and actually made the midterm changes we suggested on the course evaluation. She calls on a wide variety of students, but makes sure they know the answer first. The class is easier than 195.

Gail has true passion for her students and the material taught. I would recommend her for math 196 over all of the other professors.

I had Gail for Math 195. The class is not a "methods" class, but instead a class to make sure future teachers really understand basic concepts. For me, some parts have been a piece of cake while other parts have ma m really have to apply myself. I think Gail does a nice job of trying to make sure everyone understands and she is helpful.

I agree that Gail Johnston can be disorganized and frequently lost work. It becomes a problem at test time because the grading is rather subjective for a mathematics class. She tried to be helpful and was good-natured but sometimes either didn't have the answers or couldn't communicate it effectively.

I had Gail for Math 195, and again now for Math 196. She is a bit unconventional but is an amazing professor. Despite what was said in the comments below, in my class she encouraged questions and always made sure you understood the answer before moving on. If I could have Gail for the rest of my math classes, I would pay extra for it.She's the best

I'm pretty sure she has invented a new subject that she believes to be math.Give me calculus, no problem.Math 195=cRaZy.She has no ability to answer questions and deals with this by simply staring at you for three seconds and then moving on as if you never said anything. At least entertaining though.Oh, and she farts constantly and it's distracting.

Gives you practice material for the test then gives you questions on the test that were nothing like the questions she gave you in order to "prepare for the exam". It seems like she does this on purpose to make the exams harder then they should be.

The content of the course is hard in itself. Gail will help you if you help yourself. She will make time for you when needed and anything that she doesn't make clear, all you have to do is ask and she will explain in a different way until you get it. She's very experienced. Might not treat us like college kids, but we all her respect.

Never comes to class on time. She doesn't communicate what she wants turned in--keep track of everything, because she won't! She'll treat your class like a middle school class: seating charts, evil eye for talking, etc. We're in college and we should be treated like it. The only positive? She's generally in a good mood when teaching.

Most unorganized prof/teacher I have ever seen. Everyone is completely confused when it is time to hand in assignments because she is so unclear as to what we needed to have done! She is very nice, but extremely unorganized and very confusing.

She is probably the most unclear more unorganized professor I have had at ISU. She never goes over homework and never comes to class prepared. If you do the homework and practice exams you'll do fine in the class, but she is not a good teacher

Extremely helpful - I found her to be one of my favorite college professors, just because she is willing to take so much time to help every individual student out. Hated math before her - but she really taught me to enjoy it!
