Do extra credit/question journals/online hw- really easy assignments. try on essays, not that harsh of a grader. pick a good group for group essay! If he sees you are trying and you do your work, he will like you and you will most likely get an A. please do extra credit! it helped a lot. Go to class as much as you can, you get points for it

Really not sure as to why Professor Luke does not have a higher rating. He is very clear in the essay syllabus, and gives good feedback. If you show him that you are actually wanting to learn the material taught in class, and not distracting others, you will do well. The midterm was an in class on demand essay which he prepares you for weeks prior.

He gave constructive feedback on the homework, but he is a tough grader and hard to please, which is expected as he is also an English teacher. I learned a lot from the class, but at times I thought his lectures were all over the place as well as his personality. I second going into this office hours for help.

He is an older man, nice professor but lectures can be a bit slow. Going to office hours for help on your paper significantly helps with your grade.

I am still in his class, but he is an alright teacher. If you are lazy and bad at turning in homework, don't take his class. I was expecting worse but he is a nice guy. if you are unsure about homework, you have to ask, and do all of the online hw! He respects you if he sees that you are trying. try sitting towards the front so he gets to know you.

Extremely sarcastic towards his students and calls you out in front of everyone. Speaks endlessly upon politics and has no correlation to English 1A. You must complete a 14 hour long assignment called "comp 3" and it's not free; due near the end of the semester. Felt like an online course, all hw and readings were online; learned nothing in class.

Talks a lot about politics and easily gets off topic. Teaches the entire class time, doesn't ever let you out early. Is disorganized and not clear in what he wants students to accomplish.

I took his English 1A class. I found him to be personally a very interesting teacher. He doesn't give clear directions thats for sure. Meaning... you have to use critical thinking... in a class about critical thinking. Its a hard class thats for sure. So if you want a challenge, take his class.

Gary is a nice guy and all but his class is just completely insane. He teaches the class like it's Political Science instead of Freshman English. His directions are super unclear and he is the most harsh grader I've ever dealt with. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.

Seems more like a class on politics than an English 1A class. Talks endlessly about things that don't have anything to do with the class and even then never gets to the point. He looks like a turtle and cannot keep a class under control.

Easy A if your writing skills are on point. Dual taught class with Michael Hanson. Feedback will center on asking questions about your ideas to get you thinking, won't necessarily be directly helpful. Rambles on with no clear direction, hard to follow, but the class was easy and his literature lectures were interesting.

The worst teacher I've ever had. Rambles on for most of the period about current events or how horribly evil Disney is. Doesn't clarify what is due or when. Doesn't teach you anything about writing. Seems like an easy A class, but not if you don't even know what you're supposed to BS. If you like the feeling of wanting to die, take this class.

Professor Luke was a very helpful professor. He will help you when you need it, and if something is unclear he will explain it to you, but make sure to ask. He cares about his students and wants them to do well. If you come to class, participate, and turn in your essaysonline grammar homework on time, you will do well. Great class!!

Professor Luke is a very kind man. His class is pretty easy, as long as you show up to class and ask questions, you will pass. MAKE SURE YOU ASK QUESTIONS IF SOMETHING IS NOT CLEAR THOUGH. If you don't ask, then it's on you. There is nothing but group projects, so start liking to work with others. Over all, good course and enjoyable Professor

Ew. Hated him. Sorry but Do not take him. Makes you do a whole 16 hours of this pointless online program. Do not this class. because you will be hanging by a thread the whole semester. PS. he goes on long pointless tangents and leaves you hanging with 1000 quotes. Just do yourself a favor and steer clear!!

I took him for English 1A, he's a nice guy but very disorganized, always changing the curriculum or due dates. Can easily get sidetracked with monotonous rants about other subjects.. The class wasn't relatively hard overall, although attendance does add up, and there are plenty of group projects. I was just frustrated with the lack of clarity.

Disorganized and almost no direction what-so-ever, but once you accept this, you'll be fine. No simple yes or no answers to questions. Online quizzes are easy (open book, use etext/search). Compare/Contrast essays aren't too harshly graded. Term paper isn't completely terrible. Prof. Luke can be easily persuaded. Boring lecture. Overall okay.
