I think the worst professor I've had at UF. He does not care about the class at all. He does not explain anything. He does not know how to use a computer. The homework has nothing to do with the exams, so everyone just uses Chegg. The grading is bogus, I wrote a bunch of formulas on a sheet and got a 72 but if I mess up one number, I get a 90.

He said "I'm still trying to figure out why they make civils take this course." Syllabus stated he makes red marks on exams, holds paper out, squints and says "that looks like an 8 out of 10." I stopped going to class, never tried, and averaged a B by the ridiculously easy grading scale. If you're a civil and don't need this info, TAKE HIM!

Exams only had 4 questions, so miss one and you're done. He's also a terrible lecturer; he would make countless mistakes, lose track of thought, forget how to finish the problem, etc. I'd say 1/3 of the class had to drop the course. He doesn't curve grades at all so good luck getting an A

If you are an Aero/Mech major DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR DYNAMICS. I cannot stress how important this is. He does NOT teach the material he is suppose to, and it's CRUCIAL material! Now that I'm in more advanced classes, it's a nightmare. I'm having to do twice the work/studying to catch up because he DID NOT teach concepts you WILL need later.

Well I have never had a teacher like this before. He never finishes one single problem in class. He gives two different exams, one was easier, one very hard. Get lucky and sit in a seat that has the easy form. HW is extremely hard. Tests were extremely sloppy, and put together last second. The test is in his own handwriting, which is messy. Bad.

Just read the book and do the examples in the book multiple times. Then do his homework again before the test and you will get an A. If one of his tests problems seem way too easy, just go with it (it probably IS that easy).

Gary K. Matthew is quite a guy. Take this class with him and you are in for a wild ride of misunderstanding and reading the text to do the endless homework assignments. The exams aren't that bad, if you actually do the homework. Matthew is a stickler about writing after he calls time on an exam, watch out.

Ugh. Just a horrible experience overall. His lectures were not structured and he almost never finished solving a problem he started in class because half the time, he didn't know how to solve it/left his notes at home/went off on a tangent about something unrelated, etc.

Not bad really. Tests are 90% of the grade and they are very easy. And if the TA messes your grade up, just go to him with the score you think is legit and he'll barely look at your test and give you the regraded score on the spot. HW is tough but get the solutions manual. Should be an easy A. Stay on top of readings.

Took dynamics some pros and cons: His tests are very simple and not as advanced as hw at all however the first test there were two different TA grading rubrics causing huge grade discrepency between A-L and L-Z last name exams. In the other exam he wrote a question and forgot to put the right answer on the multiple choice. Gets lost in class. OLD

Like other reviews, he is very chill and a fun guy. He is also ridiculously lazy and is always unprepared--makes up his own examples (no notes of his own) and gets lost all the time. Sometimes the problem never gets solved at all by the end of class. Makes a hard subject harder. Tests = easier than HW.

Nice guy, and he's pretty funny. He's very clear, and his tests for EML2023 were pretty easy. He also does stuff very similar to the homework. Make sure you go to his or TA office hours to know what you're doing though. The homework is lacking in directions sometimes.

Nice guy. Tries to help you out as an Engineer. Class is a lot of work but is interesting. If you want to go to his office hours, make an appointment, he sometimes is not there. He is a funny old guy, tries to keep you interested in the boring stuff. Start your HW at the begining of the week, you will sleeo better.
