I took Gary during the Summer Quarter. He was a clear instructor, helpful resource, and understanding person. His online class consisted mainly of daily/weekly sets of readings and short-answer responses that gradually prepared you for a single 2500-300 word final essay. Our topic was political, and we participated in weekly class discussions.

Gary actually expects you to know things *gasp, college* but will make sure you can succeed in the course. Lectures are informative and incredibly non-biased, group projects are minimal (bless up), and homework is graded based on completion. A few bigger tests, but you can use ALL your notes. I would highly recommend this class!

Gary was such a sweet teacher. He is subtly funny, and makes what people believe to be a boring subject not boring. There is a lot of reading in his class, and if your'e not dedicated to reading, you won't do well. That being said, he is caring and nice. His tests are easy as long as you take time to study (really please), so don't blow them off.

Gary was very straight to the point about what he wanted you to get out of the class. There are assignments daily but you can do them at your leisure and crank them all out in a day. Our whole quarter was about the first amendment so if you don't like politics, this is not the class for you.

Our papers were on water, a very boring topic for me. But, what do you know, I came out of that class knowing a lot more about water than I did going in to it. He makes it very easy to succeed in his class. Repetitive citation assignments, so you should be a pro by the end of it. I enjoyed his teaching style--it works well with the online format.

I took this class as part of a learning community. We were assigned papers that that coincided with an Oceanography course. I learned a lot of techniques about writing a research paper that will help later. If you ask for feedback on your papers Gary is more than willing to help. I would be happy to take another class with this teacher.

Online 102. Easy class. There is one major essay due at the end but you spend all qtr researching for it, and 2-3 shorter essays that are pretty easy. The assignments are short questions about your research and how to site them properly(5 per wk). Would definitely recommend this class to learn how to compose a research essay. Not really political

I loved this online class. Gary had a clear schedule of when he wants things due and what he wants you do to. The amount of reading is doable even for people who HATE to read (10 pgs for the whole week, if that). He gets back to you quickly if you have questions, and is ok when it comes to grading. The class was pretty easy, just do the work.

Hope to take again for English 102. Online class very clear. Not to many assignments about 5short assn week due Sundays, and durning essay weeks no homework. If you complete the short assimgments you get credit. Not to many essays. Just 4. Not to much reading. Good structure. Very nice guy always answers questions.

I wasn't expecting this class to be as political as it was, I was at first a little worried about it as i'm not the most political person. The material and course has a way of making you care about politics and learn more and is a great platform for learning how to write research papers. Great feedback even though it was taken online. Loved it.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU HATE POLITICS. The actual content of the class was never described online and that why I'm making this review , for unsuspecting kids like me. the assignments were easy, but really annoying because they were all the same just different topics. Over all BORING class. I couldn't even finish it because I was so sad.

This class wasn't worth my time. The class itself was really unorganized. Gary would disappear and not answer emails or be available on campus. He is super slow at grading and didn't grade the papers until after the quarter was over so I couldn't improve on my work. He wouldn't even review the rough drafts he made us write. I didn't learn anything.

If you want to ace a class with very little effort, this is the class for you. However, if you actually want to learn something, pick someone else. Papers are not graded until the quarter is over, so there is little feedback on your personal writing strengths and weaknesses. A very nice man, but a very irritating online classroom environment.

Small, easy, discussion posts 4-5 times a week. Most don't have required relies to others. 3 tests, with about 20 multiple choice questions and 2-3 short essay questions. Not too much reading. Overall, easy A.
