He is the greatest professor I've ever had. He's an absolute genius, explains very well, but he's not exactly super nice.

Dr. Rubin is not so bad, really. He is tough on students who show up late or skip class. However, if you do the homework assignments he gives you in class you should make it out with at least a B. He only gives three tests, so you have to study hard and keep up on the homework. Overall, it was a good class.

He may look like he is intimidating, but he really isn't. The only thing intimidating is the amount of packet homework he gives you. My suggestion is to do the packets because it definitely helps you practice and learn the material. The exams are handwritten and multiple choice, but nonetheless CAKE. Tutor is definitely needed if you don't get it.

Go to class, take notes exactly as they appear on the board, do the homework packets verbatim because the exams will be very very similar. Don't skip steps when showing your work, because he prefers work shown in "GREAT DETAIL". He is helpful if you go see him.

People here are being too hard on Dr. Rubin. What really matters is that his lectures are consistently clear and if you make an effort to follow them, you'll pass. I've had plenty of professors in the math department put far less effort into educating their students. The only downside is you had better understand him in lecture; he's a bit awkward

Terrible professor, all the bad things you read here are true. He absolutely sucks. How he has a job still is beyond comprehension.. Whatever you do DO NOT TAKE HIM. change your schedule. if his class is a must have, still don't take it. Only way I will ever take him again is if his class was the only one i had that semester.

In my class there was about 35 people to start out with, then after the first test many people dropped except for twelve. After the second test, three people failed. So that leaves 9 students to maybe pass the course. Rubin knows what he is talking about, but he just can not teach. DO NOT TAKE HIM!

His only opportunity for grades are the 3 tests. Non-mandatory homework everyday, but if you don't do it you'll be lost. Pretty unclear and even confuses himself sometimes. Came to every class and did all homework yet failed the first exam. He tends to be rude to you if you don't understand something. DO NOT TAKE HIM AT ALL COSTS. Do not expect As.

Class was horrible, lectures were horrible, tests were horrible. Rubin "teaches" at the class instead of to it. Allows for up to 9 unexcused absences but gets irate when you miss more than 1. Half of the class failed the first test and about a third dropped it.

Rubin knows the material inside out. Period. If you devote a lot of time outside of class you can do well. People on here complain about the homework, but he never even looks at it. You can do all or none if you want. I personally see it as a good thing because you have a variety of problems to practice. Lectures are a little dry. Tests reasonable.

This is the worst excuse for an educator I have ever experienced. He encouraged my whole class to drop because he "didn't think we could do it" he actually said that to many people in the class. He is ridiculous and unhelpful, he will not answer questions if you have them.

Dr. Rubin is extremely rude and does not care about his students. He has a huge ego and makes that very clear on the first day. Do not take his class, you will fail.

Comment:
Dr. Rubin's lectures are very boring. If you're actually dedicated to your grades, however, I would recommend him. Tests are multiple choice, and he gives super good notes/homework problems to practice exactly what will be on the test. It's a pain to do the homework 600 pages throughout the semester, but worth it for an easy A if you put in work

Dr Rubin was one of my favorite Math professor in Marshall. He does walk around with chalk all over him and on his face. He gives extremely detail notes that covers more than exams, as long as you make notes, you would easily score an A.

I honestly did not think it was that bad. success is very simple. He gives you very detailed notes and plenty of time to copy, his tests literally consist of the easiest problems on the homework packets. I aced every test when so many did poorly because people panic at his weird style of teaching. It was concrete with little to no confusion.

TAKING HIM IS A MISTAKE! Only grades in the course are two tests and the final. This would be fine except for his tests being extremely difficult. I studied his 50 page homework packets front and back but they didn't seem to help my grade. I completed both tests thinking I got an A, in reality I got low Cs. Worst professor I've taken.

Only good thing I can say is he's knowledgeable but that's it. He doesn't explain anything and is rude and treats you like an idiot if you ask questions.takes roll twice a class period if someone leaves. syllabus has 2 pages devoted only to his attendance policy. doesn't use required text, uses different notation that text and makes you use his way
