Comment:

Scharnhorst is one of those professors that an English major must take at least once in order to say they saw the best UNM has to offer. He cares about what he teaches, which is all I ask of a professor. He answers questions, provides witty antecdotes, and generally makes the material interesting. Read, read, read, and enjoy your A.

Scharnhorst is phenomenal. He is extremely knowledgeable, offers multiple ways to read texts, has excellent discussions and gives great info for notes. He makes it fun to learn and is very witty. He is by far one of the best professors I have ever had. Papers are crystal clear and his comments are very helpful. Good readings too.

This man is an amazing professor- very knowledgeable, very intelligent, and makes class interesting and fun. Class is mostly lecture and discussion, and I learned more in this class than I have in most. He is very open minded to different readings of texts, and can always recommend more reading on a text. Def. take him if you like Amer lit.

He mainly lectures with some class discussion. You will learn a lot about the texts/authors. He is VERY irreverant, loud and excited (good if you're liberal and don't mind a professor talking about authors/characters sexuality a lot). He only teaches at night but will keep you awake.
