Not clear on anything when it comes to your great you don't get a rubric for your papers you are writing blind. Any feedback he gives is somewhat hard to understand.

Mark is the boringest teacher you will ever have. He takes attendance everyday but it doesn't count towards your grade. You will only do about 5 homework assignments the entire quarter, if you stick to his questions you will pass easily. He is hard to understand and listen to for an hour, but its an easy A or B. You only use the book on the final.

Mr. Doerr is disorganized, eccentric and has a lazy teaching style. I had an on-ground class with him but yet there was no actual teaching or learning done in class, instead everything was done online. His feedback was confusing and condescending. Everything is about portfolio and if you do all assignments with perfect attendance you can still fail

Professor Doerr was a good teacher. I have a feeling that most of the harsh comments about him are from students who didn't put in much effort. Essays can be pretty tough, but if you meet with him, he will help you structure your essay so it meets the criteria. He is willing to meet with you outside of class if you just ask him.

Comment:

Professor Doerr is very easy to work with and will help you everytime you ask him. His lectures can sometimes be confusing, but as soon as you ask for clarification, his is more than willing to give you another explanation. Get ready to read and be able to answer his questions the following day. All-in-all he is a good professor to learn from.

Awful. I'll be positive to steer clear from him and his classes. Everything about it sucks. He doesn't help you, he argues with you about why he's right and you're wrong instead of teaching you why you're wrong. I was stoked for this class because it's my major but he just ruined it for me. He's boring it's hard to stay awake.

Attendance isn't necessarily mandatory but if you miss class you are going to have no clue what he expects out of you. He has a hard time of explaining himself, often says one thing but really means something else. If you ask questions about how he thinks you can make your paper's better and actually follow his directions you should do ok.

Horrid. I took him for 101 and 102. Big mistake. All he does it criticizes your papers without giving much constructive criticism. He just wants you to know that you suck. The 102 readings were RIDCULOUS 100 pages for one night. Do not take his class. I worked hard for a C grade.

This was my least favorite teacher. His instructions are so unclear and he doesn't teach you anything. Every time i submitted an essay he would just tell me that it sucked (and plenty of other professors have enjoyed my essays) with out giving me constructive criticism.

My only complaint is that his teaching style is very bland. I never enjoyed being in the classroom as it was often pretty boring, but I still tried hard and ended up getting a 3.0. It's very difficult getting a 4.0 in his class.

Doerr lost one of my submitted assignments and claimed I never turned it in. The assignment was essential to passing the course. I strongly discourage taking one of his courses.

There was not much direction in this class.He would give an assignment but wouldn't tell you what was expected of this assignment. He grades very strictly. He does allow you to revise your papers if you are not satisfied with your grade. This is what saved my grade.

This was such a ridiculously hard class. I did not learn a thing from this teacher. He gives poor feedback on papers. The one good thing is that he allows you to revise each paper one time to increase your grade. If you aren't already an amazing writer, I would avoid taking this class. Your skills will not improve, your expected to already know.
