umm very nice guy but he was more interested in talkig about how america is a joke and how americans are ignorant. everyone can have their oppinion but lets talk about the phylisophical orientation to education..whatever that means. Make sure you go to class because he gives out a pop quiz..also just agree with whatever he says.p.s. go on trips!

So the class is philisophical orientation to education... why did he teach nothing about philosophy? Was hoping he would pull it all together at the end like in Pulp Fiction, but all he did was touch his beard. Walked out on the last day thinking, "What just happened?" Nice guy, class has no point, too much work.

This guy is a total joke. I worked my butt of and got a C because he told us a C was average. If you do not think the way he does you are wrong. I do not recommend taking him at all his class was complete hell!!!

This man purposely put me on the spot to teach class for 3 days just because I had lived in Japan but then questioned everything I had to say about living there and didn't believe me because "it wasn't in the book". I know don't have me teach then.

this prof is not that bad..hes boring but he actually makes u think..barely assigns hw..exams are all essays AND he gives u all the essays ahead of time, u choose from say 4 out of 7..trips are kind of fun..i actually liked that class

I took him 4 years ago, he sucked so bad, boring lectures, philosophy could've been interesting but not with him. Also I got chicken pox during finals and he was the hardest of all my professors to get a hold of, and never submitted my grade, I had to go to the dean to get the problem staraightened

Definitely a pointless class in and of itself, but i did learn a lot in his class, like PDP and be prepered for the unexpected, and what did you see, what did you hear? he's really boring, but he has a genuine desire to help his students

Professor Bernstein is one of the most brilliant and inspiring professor's at Montclair and there are not too many of them. Bernstein is a rare educational gem and only the intelligent would be able to grasp this socrate's vision.

The preceeding comments regarding Dr. Bernstein are inaccurate and unfair. I enjoyed his class immensely. It's a 200 level class for crying out loud! If you can't hack it, you shouldn't be in college. (It's MSU, not Harvard!)
