While Hopkins was quite animated and "colorfully" opinionated, he would/could not ever offer any supporting arguments. His lectures were random effusions and not presentations. This was a shame given the complexity of the actual subjects. He did not teach, but the students just loved the subject, JFK's death, so it was just confused conversation

Most of the things people are saying can be seen as true. I would point out that the class is actually pretty easy...He keeps you going by giving you hard quizes, but 7,8 out of 10 will translate to an A at the end of the semester because the class has a steep curve he doesn't inform you about until you get your grade or have already taken a class

Somebody said this before but he words quizzes VERY hard and a lot of the stuff on the quiz is not in the stuff he assigns you to read or he mentions super briefly in the lectures. He picks the most abscure elements that even if you read the book twice you won't pick out. He is pretty interesting and funny during the lecture but he is also very arrogant and sorta makes fun of you when you don't answer something the way he wants. I guess he gets you ready for the real world...

He wouldn't let me make up a quiz because I chose to go to my grandma's funeral instead of attend class. I ended up failing the class because of it. Stay away from his classes if you can

I took his Presidential Assasinations class, and was very excited because it is a topic I am very interested in. However, most of the time he spent talking about sex and degrading his wife and women in general. His class was very hard, but the curve was so huge I think it was impossible to get lower then a C.

I've had him for 145, 306, and 445. He is one of the best professors on campus he holds you accountable for reading and attending class, other than that no papers or pop quizzes or useless busy work. Don't bother paying attention to comments made from people who took his intro class, they were probably lazy and looking for the easy way out.

What an ****. I'm a straight A student, who spends 5 hours a week reading for his class, and I'm still getting a C or D. He refuses to answer any questions you have. Even if you know the material, he words quizzes so hard you'll get an 7/10 at most. RUN THE OTHER WAY!!!

No free rides in this class! If read the chapters and I mean really read the chapters you'll do fine. I enjoyed his lectures but the tests are mostly from the book. He curved our classes grade but don't expect an easy B or A. Attending class is crucial to your success.

All you loser below don't know what you are talking about. Dr Hopkins is a great teacher and riot to listen to. Just wait to you get a boss in the real world (assuming you will make it out there) that you don't get along with or gives you "too much work." Are you just going to quit your job.

Way too much reading. Lectures are interesting, but have nothing to do with any of the quizes. Wording of quiz questions are very unclear. All and all, if you dont absolutely HAVE to take this class, DON'T!

Terrible teacher. Spent several hours reading and studying for weekly quizes. Unwilling to help me when I visited his office hours. Ultimately dropped class after 7 weeks. Only class in college I've ever withdrawn from. Bewhere.

his class is hard. you have to read a long chapter every week. the lectures are long and boring. you have to attend class and the quizzes arent even over the lecture, they come totally out of the reading. it was the worst hist.class i have ever taken!

Class is pretty easy. Just do the reading (1 hour a week)which is usually interesting and show up and take the weekly quizzes. This is one of the best and most interesting classes I've taken. He is pretty outspoken about his political beliefs.

This was a great class and he is a great professor. He kept it interesting an he is very amusing. His politic views come out alot so if your not a democrat, you may not like his humor.
