Comment:

Talks alot about unecessary stuff during lectures but overall is an easy A if you pay attention to his notes/ reviews. Graded on four test and a project depending on which class you're in 100 or 150. Show up, take all his notes and you'll be fine. Great teacher!

Dr. Kain is by far the best professor I've ever had at Western. I know a lot of people don't agree with him. The way he lectures... he's very passionate & he does curse. But he is a very good man who is very intelligent. I would defiantly take another class of his! Defiantly an interesting class I never wanted to miss!

If you're worried about your poor delicate ears being hurt by the way the professor speaks and you're close minded, then don't take this class and don't even take this major because in the Criminal Justice field there'll be plenty of it! If you wan to really learn and have a teacher that is passionate and knows his stuff, this is the class for you.

Same every class. Sit and he lectures. The class is mostly filled with his personal experiences and stories. Show up and listen you'll do fine. Tests can be tricky but he drops the lowest grade. He's very passionate and is strongly against capital punishment. Whole class basically leads up to final paper on the death penalty. class can get boring.

Dr. Kain is the man! I'm taking a class that he himself has made up this fall semester: JLA 298 (3 semesters in a row). Regardless of the class, all you're going to hear is "Death Penalty." Definitely take a class with him and his classes made me go from supporting to opposing the death penalty. He's a tough grader and very opinionated, but smart.

I feel very strongly about cursing. i don't know much about his teaching ability but I'm rating him to warn students who would rather a professional professor. He curses like a sailor, is loud and talks way too much. I dropped the class after the first day. He made me very uncomfortable with his choice of language.

This class is easy as long as you attend class and listen to him when we talk. Theres 4 assignments that make up your grade, 3 tests and a journal critique, each worth 25%. Dont buy the book, just listen closely and you'll be fine.

The most informative, entertaining class I've ever had. Definitely cares about his students. He's always asking for your input and allows you to have your own beliefs but will totally debate about something, it's a great learning experience. Show up to his class. Totally worth it, and be respectful to him, you'll get it in return.

He is awesome seriously. He is loud and has passion for what he does. He doesn't like the death penalty and talks a-lot about it(it IS the ultimate punishment) and it is a Criminal Justice class why would he avoid it? I would recommend him to anyone for an elective or if it is your major. He is clear you will have a better understanding of JLA

Awful.. Comes 10 min. late every class and then likes to keep you late. I almost lost my job because he kept us 15 min. late to go over the final that he didn't go over in class because he was too busy going off talking about nothing related to the final. Boring, and gave one written assignment, mid-term and final to base our grade off of.

THE WORST TEACHER! Boring and I have not learned a thing other then the death penalty which he will SHOVE down ur throat to be against. 15 min. into the class I want to cry because he talks about the same thing every class... The death penalty and his parole days. Sounds easy but just wait if your major it JLA.

You can't help but love Dr. Kain. Yes he gets off on wild tangents and doesn't cover a lot of material... but he's a great guy, loves what he does and sincerely cares about his students. Very fair, easy and fun!
