Comment:
This is not an intro class, rather a supplement to those who love the subject. As an instructor, Lebo is extremely difficult. Tests are based solely off lectures and there is no textbook. As a person, he is very nice and tries to be as helpful as possible in office hours. I wish I didn't take it.

Attendance is mandatory, not because he grades you on it, but because if you aren't there to listen to the lecture you simply will not have any material to study. Tests are formatted so that the class average is often 50%. He gives little extra credit and curves the final grade. This is not a class to take for an easy A, but it is interesting.

This class is extremely difficult! I regret taking it. The exams are miserable. Basically you must memorize EVERYTHING and then choose which of the listed facts are true. In other words you can know the majority of the material and still fail.

Really sweet man. Loves when you visit his office hours, but not that helpful. REALLY hard class! Grades are based on exam scores. The way he sets up the exams are hard, even if you know the majority of the information, you can still fail. He gives extra credit though.

Absolutely horrendous professor - avoid at all costs. Does not use the textbook, gives homework that even the TA has difficulty solving (because the information was never taught), and has the most unhelpful and unprofessional exam format (he claimed to be too lazy to change it). All exam averages have been below 50% (he curves at the end though).

The professor is an interesting lecturer, but the only source of information is from lectures. The textbook is absolutely uses. Lectures ramble and provide a superficial, overly technical view of material that is inappropriate for those not majoring in Astronomy. Google searching for information is not a reliable study method.

The teacher is a nice, well educated man. He speaks clearly, but his train of thought is extremely muddy. He assigned a companion book to the class, yet I have not opened it at all. Spends all class lecturing then we are expected to solve anything he gives. I've been depending on internet searches and websites and wikipedia. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!

This class can be very interesting if you like astronomy. The professor often adds tidbits from his own experience to his lectures, but they are not always relevant to what will be on the tests. Pay attention and come to the pre-exam study sessions. They will help. I thoroughly enjoyed this class.

Cool guy, pretty good teacher, but I studied more for this class than anything else. Take good enough notes so you can go back and memorize later. I got an A so it is possible, but I worked for it for sure.

Easier during summer (from what I see). Fun class, cool guy, lots of funny tidbits and "life lessons" thrown in. He gave out chocolate during class! Difficult tests, LOTS of studying required, and a background in physics/chemistry helped me out a lot even though I'm an English major. I adore this professor, you couldn't find a nicer old man! :D

Ok the teacher is a good guy. Its just a shame that this class is so freakin hard. I would definitely stay away even if you were a science major. I'm doing better in Organic than in this class. Please don't take it.

SO HARD! I thought it was going to be a fun and realitively easy class..NOPE. His lectures are all done on the chalk board and they're really hard to understand. Nothing is really basic memorization..you actually have to understand science/physics to know what you're doing. the tests are REALLY hard but he does curve them quite a bit.

DO NOT take this class unless you want to have a miserable semester! This is the hardest class I've taken at UF and its supposed to be 1000 level. Don't believe what you read in the course description. Class is based only on tests and the tests are impossible. He talks really fast during lecture and doesn't tell you whats going to be on the test.

Definitely need to have STRONG astronomy/science background or extreme self discipline to succeed. Grade based on nothing but tests - no assignments given. Teacher is nice but forgets that his audience is a group that signed up for a 1000-level gen ed class. Dont take for easy A.

So i thought intro to astronomy was going to be an interesting and non mathematical class for non-science majors, u know thats what they say in the description, bull****! To make matters worse the teacher made it harder than what it really was. Homeboy use to work for NASA and needs to keep his behind there.DONt TAKE HIM!!!!!!!

Lebo is a funny, cool guy, but I do not recommend the class. I found his oral lectures without any visual aids except chalkboard drawings to be hard to understand. I had to rely entirely on the unrequired textbook. The exam format made tests unreasonably difficult. It is an uninteresting and difficult class. Extra credit and lots of study required

This class is absurdly difficult. The subject matter is easy to learn, but the test format makes it really hard. I recommend doing the extra credit and studying EVERYDAY.

A decent and relatively interesting professor with tests way to hard for an intro class. if you are looking for an easy gen ed, i'd recommend looking elsewhere.
