Comment:

The biggest piece of advice I can give you is: just don't. Math is my favorite subject so I was originally very excited for this class. That was a mistake. There is a ten percent project that is not graded clearly or objectively. George wants you to do everything in a very specific way and doesn't use class time efficiently.

Comment:

George was an amazing calculus 2 teacher. He really cares about his students and is willing to help if asked. Every test is take home except the final. He even recommends that you work on the tests with your classmates. George also orders pizza for the class. I definitely recommend George for calculus 2.

All the tests are online, but there's usually no time limit or it's timed for two hours. He will meet you outside of class if you're having a hard time learning, and he gives you extra credit on the final if you do the class surveys. He also occasionally orders pizza. Easy A if you're good at math, and B if you're not. Love this man.

George is an awesome teacher, very personable and a kind man. He is willing to help you sends great emails and is on top of things. Will order pizza for the class occasionally just has you bring in a couple bucks. Great guy and makes the class more enjoyable.

I disliked this class so much. He thinks he's helpful but he is not. He wrote the book and it is terrible. Its hard to read and comprehend and there is no index. He basically says every way you learned to do math as a kid is wrong,

This man...He can be a bit difficult to understand and comprehend but genuinely wants to help his students. You could be blind and deaf, but still know when he comes into class because of his distinct cologne.

Unless you like playing "fill in the blank" to all of his sentences this class will be extremely annoying. It was a struggle to wake up and be at this class. I have never been so glad to get out of a class. He takes attendance every class and has a fairly extensive portfolio he wants completed for the class.

Great Teacher. He cares about the students learning and understanding the material. He will stop the class to help anyone better understand and he likes to be on a first name bases. I took his class over the summer, and it was the best summer class i've ever had.

George actually cares about mathematics and cares that the student understands the importance of the subject. He will give you the proof (which is awesome) and then teach you the best way possible of solving a problem. He goes out of his way to help as well.

George is a great teacher. One take-home test, extra credit, drop lowest test grade, all together make it easy. You know exactly what will be on the tests; there is no "trickery". Whenever you don't understand a concept, he is more than willing to go over it and break it down until you understand every bit of it. Also, he's very personable.

George was the WORST teacher I have had so far at ETSU. Even tho he gave us take home exams I still had no idea what was going on in the class because he did not explain the material to us. I learned nothing in his class and it will have no impact in my career. He thinks he knows what he is talking about but he doesnt since he never taught kids!

I don't care about extra credit or take home tests, George D. Poole is the worst teacher on the planet. He talks about the failing education system, and he is helping to deteriorate the system of education in this country. I learned nothing but made an A in his class. He enjoys listening to the sound of his own voice. He is a total narcissist.

If you do not do well in this class, it is your own fault. 3 out of 4 tests were TAKE HOME for goodness sake. He is very picky and things have to be done his way, but come on...he gave plenty of opportunities for extra credit. I am taking him for the next section, because I know he will give extra credit and I am hoping for more take home tests!!

TERRIBLE teacher, did not like him at all. You have to do things his way or no way. His tests are hard and if you don't do it exactly his way its wrong! George really has a passion for future teachers. His class will not be the easiest, but I advise anyone to take his class, because you will learn a lot and he shows you helpful ways to do things. Also, the class can be an easy A or B if you try and do the work. He will help you anyway he can, just ASK.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM!! He has never been an elementary school teacher, but thinks he knows more about teaching and students than anyone. He is arrogant and very unhelpful. I have been an A-B student for all 3 years of college and even I could not get a B in this horrible class.

This professor was awful. After you worked your butt off on the assignments, he tells you that all that matters is what you made on the final. Not fair. Then proceeds to post our final grades at midnight the night before submitting them to the university, which left no time to dispute.
