Not as bad as most of the comments here make him out to be. Yes, his lectures aren't exactly the clearest, but he's extremely helpful, and he basically lets you turn in the homework whenever ("deadlines" really have no meaning in his class). Incredibly nice guy, very helpful, but may require lots of outside work to make up for his average lectures

I went through this entire class thinking that I was failing. Literally getting an F. Turns out he builds in a lot of extra credit and I got a B+. Do I know any stats? Nope. There was a quiz a midterm and a final, and the practice final was the final with different numbers and you can use it on the test. Homework is essential.

Let me just say for starters that I am an excellent student. I am not one of those students that badmouths teachers because I am lazy and do not want to make an effort. Nonetheless, there comes a point when no matter how much effort you put into a subject, you will still fail. That is exactly how you will feel if you take his class. RETIRE OLD MAN!

If I was tortured and then later I was given the chance to punish my torturer I would not send him to study Statistics with this "teacher" because that would be too cruel, this is how bad this "teacher" is! He completely and utterly destroyed whatever interest I had for stats. He does not know how to teach! So please, do not take this guy! BAD PROF

curved the first two tests and not the second. appears to be an easy teacher at first but beware. homework is only 5% of the grade but takes about 2-3 hours per test. he probably knows a lot about the subject, but he has no idea how to teach. take him if youre okay with teaching yourself a subject basically entirely from a book.

I would not recommend taking this class. Sure he's a cute old man, but not by any means a good math teacher. Don't let the excitement of open book tests fool you - the class is not easy by any means and he's not giving out one 'a' this semester.

Throughout high school math honor classes, I had gotten A's and actually had understood the material. Funk's class changed all that. He is absolutely unclear about everything. He says his tests are supposed to be like the hwmk but they're not. Avoid him at all costs unless you wanna teach yourself.

At the beginning of the course, he told us he hadn't taught calculus at Loyola for a few years. Obviously, since he does problems wrong and then tells us it "looks pretty." He is a horrible, horrible, horrible man. AVOID THIS CLASS!!! Avoid ANY class he teaches. You'll thank me!
