Comment:
Gott is a very understanding teacher but sometimes makes the lectures into more of a rant, instead of focusing on the reading. Also makes you print out all of the readings but he often gets behind schedule so skimming is your best bet. Projects/papers are the usual for INT but Gott gives back helpful feedback and is a fair grader.

Gott is an amazing professor. The class is pretty hard but if you do the readings and pay attention in class, it can be very interesting. Gott goes through topics in this class like nationalism and how it is reflected in our day to day lives. Definitely would take again.

He's a very interesting professor, but strict on the work and class time. ATTEND CLASS. Not just because it's required, but because he says a lot of cool stuff and he ties the readings very well. Sometimes it doesn't make sense, but when he gets other students to interpret the readings, it also helps. He also offers good opportunities for extr cd

Wonderful professor. I had him for International Law in the RFMS program. He truly cares about his students. Be sure to visit him outside of class. His feedback is incredible. I wish every professor was as invested in their students' learning. His lectures can be hard to follow. He does not make his point in the simplest terms.

While he doesn't make you buy books, he does make you print out the readings which you need to probably skim if you want to not be lost. He is a great cheerleader in having you finish the challenges he puts forth with the papers and group work projects. No paper tests but the final projects due require effort in research. Get back what you put in.

Very intelligent and personable. Long lectures that really make you think and work with the readings but he understands it can be a lot sometimes. Very nice and will take another class with him if possible.

One of the most intelligent men I have ever met. He sometimes speaks over your head, but he challenges you to really understand the material. He wants his students to do well, and is very good about helping to make that happen. It is clear that he is dedicated and passionate about the major, his classes, and each student's success. Love him!

I've taken this professor for 3 classes, he is one of the best, warm and inspirational. Relaxed on deadlines. Loves to talk and help outside of class. Participation/Attendance is usually 20% of ur grade. Reading load is same as other INT classes. Typically he assigns a film/video instead of readings 2 times a quarter to make it fun. No quizzes.

Prof Gott is pretty awesome. Insanely smart and makes it easy to get involved in class. The amount of readings are ridiculous but they are relevant, but get arduous. He is lenient with grading and due date timelines. He is understanding that this is not the only class students are in and willing pushes dates back.

by far one of my favorite professors He tends to lecture a lot, but they are pretty insightful and helpful. While he demands a lot from students with regard to reading and writing he pushes you to think critically. If you apply yourself and seek him out for academic advice he will make himself available to you as a resource. Love this professor.

Pr. Gil is cool, nice and he's really passionate about his work. But this class seriously made me rethink my decision to add INT as a minor ! There's too many papers to write. I took INT before so it wasn't like I didn't know what was expected ! But beware , if you're not sure about the class or the INT program don't waste your time !

Dr. Gott is brilliant, collected, wise, open-minded, generous, welcoming and the best professor I could've hoped for to be inducted into the international studies department. Yes, his classes are challenging but if you grow as a person and an academic. He will rework and open your mind. You'd be lucky to have him as your professor.

VERY demanding course in general, Prof Gott is very helpful in understanding content, but expects alot of his students. Work MUST be put into the class to get a solid grade. I'm an A student, who is having difficulty in his class (B-/C work :/ ) but it is worth it. He preps students SO WELL for the rest of the major, which is VERY DIFFICULT!!!!!!
