Comment:

Very lecture heavy. The material is fully explained and at times seems somewhat over explained. However the material is never gone over again, so take good notes and fast. The grading is what kills you. Mostly all quiz based with little room for redemption. The quizzes want very specific answers and are very specific topics.

If you are on this site to find a good history professor, keep looking. Dr. Bogner may be a nice person but his class is way too difficult. Every single class is a continuous lecture where I feel constantly rushed to write everything down. His quizzes are overly specific, with small details asked from a ton of information. Do not take his classes.

Comment:

If you are not that interested in history do not take this class. He lectures heavy and you have to write down everything he says, he is very nit-picky about details. The only grades in this class are the midterm, the final, a long paper, and a hand full of quizzes. Tests and quizzes are very hard. Must read everything he assigns thoroughly.

Dr. Bogner was awesome to have! I especially love his lectures because he's so upbeat and loves to discuss history that you'll have no problem paying attention. The tests are a little difficult but not too challenging. He really stimulated my interest in the course.

Dr. Bogner is probably the sweetest professor here. He loves lecturing and when students ask questions. He really likes when students come to his office which is decorated really cool. However, tests are extremely hard and detailed. Luckily you can get easy points from document exercises.

He is a nice guy but likes history, or medieval women in my case, too much. So much that he doesn't realize most people don't have an interest in it. He likes what he does but is hard. There is only 3 tests and a paper each being 100 point. Lectures A LOT and his tests are very detailed and he grades hard.

He's great at making medieval history interesting but that gets overshadowed by how hard he is. There was only a midterm, final, and a research paper. He expected a lot of specific information on the midterm and final and was pretty anal about the small details. He's a great person and the class can be passed, but it's challenging. Study a lot.

Very passionate about history! All of the notes are laid out and we have a terms sheet to follow along. Be prepared; there are a lot of notes but it's not that bad. The tests can be tricky, but if you study the terms sheet you should be fine.

He made the class way too difficult for a 100 level class. He offers help but does not really do anything for you. The class does cover very interesting topics! I did learn a lot. He was just not a great teacher.

A little bit of a wind bag, but he is certainly into what he talks about. As a history major, I found his class quite enjoyable. He really gets into detail with events and dates. Although his quizes are a bit tricky, and the midterm and final can be difficult. I'd take his class again.

Really nice guy... obviously enjoys his job. I found the class a little difficult to follow... but I can see a history major loving this class. Bogner helped me on a number of occasions and never made you feel dumb. Great Prof.

Great guy! Great teacher! However, if you have ADHD, this is not the professor for you. His class is only easy if you copy down 95% of what he has said, and pay close attention to all the readings. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO PREPARE FOR TESTS! Basically though, if you're interested, then you will pass I got an A-.
