The class is simply case studies. Every class he assigns a different case, and for around six or seven a detailed write up is due (what you're mainly graded on). If you participate, your grade will be much higher. People who sit in the back and never talk will never get higher than a B; if you want an A, he has to know your name. TALKA in class

He doesn't teach anything about advertising, just talks about cases. Doesn't have a course outline. He mumbles vague instructions in class to read certain cases. He would randomly ask us to do a 6 pg case write-up and only gave us a few days to do it. Then we'd get to class & he'd say he wasn't grading it. He doesn't use blackboard or email.

Comment:

Taking a class with Dr. Pitman is the best thing that you can do as a marketing student. During the course of the semester you may not realize how much you're learning but it all becomes clear at the end. You'll have written case studies where you truly learn how to analyze all aspects of the case. This class and Strategy are the best classes!

If youre a mktg major, you need to take this class. Steep learning curve at first, but its really rewarding. Four case write ups and a test. Cases in every class for practice (about 23 total). Put in the work for every case though, its worth it!!

Hands down best professor at Bing. If Your a Marketing major you absolutely must take his Marketing Strategy course. I Have never gained so knowledge from a class in my college career. Pitman teaches you to think to analyze in ways you never thought possible. lectures could get boring but just listen you'll learn so much from what he has to say.

Pitman is the professor that I will never forget. I took both 324 & 340 at the same time; It's not something that I suggest, but it is certainly possible. The class is tough, and if you want to do well, be sure to read thoroughly and speak up. This is the most comprehensive class you will take. Brush up on your finance! It will serve you well

Pitman was amazing. Incredible background, extremely intuitive and knowledgeable. Respects hard workers and gets the class involved. Stick with the class and you will learn a ton. It's a lot of work, but he helps you a ton and you'll be surprised at the quality of your work by the end of the class. Most comprehensive marketing class I've ever had.

Brilliant man with years of experience in different fields. I was worried about taking 324 and 340 with him at the same time, but as the semester went on I learned so much. Marketing strategy can be intimidating at first, but you will see growth in your work. He's more than willing to help you. Highly recommend him, but don't expect it to be easy.

Pitman turned out to be one of my favorite professors. You honestly don't think you're learning much throughout the semester since it's all discussions of cases, and he is kind of unclear with assignments but you actually learn so much. He's such a sweet man and a great guy. Recommend this class. Real experience in the marketing world too

i stopped going to his lectures after attending a few. they were super boring, reading a textbook would be more interesting. also i doubt his effort of teaching this class-he came to class with textbook ppt; hw graded by TA's; exams questions were all mc's from the test bank except a few. ok, im ready to fail the final cuz i didn't learn anything

Knowledgable person, knows a lot about different countries especially about asian countries. Not very clear in direction thou, dosen't use email or blackboard watsoever, handwritting very hard to read. Overall interesting class.
