Others have said it...but he inspired me to completely change my major and take up psych. very helpful and actually seems to get to know each student. actually saw him in the grocery store over a year after having him and he still remembered me! you could tell he just loved what he was doing!

This man is a legend. His 101 class is what made me fall in love with PSYC. He's retired but pops in the Psyc building once in awhile and he still remembers my face. Just an awesome guy who loved his job and loved his field. Everyone here misses him.

Dr. Thornton asked us once in reference to "Tuesdays with Maurie" if we had a Maurie. I could only think to say that HE was my Maurie. I have learned so much from this wise and wonderful man. His classes taught me more information applicable to "real life" than all my other classes all put together. He will be sadly missed upon his retirement.

awesome teacher. some of the questions on the tests are not covered in lecture so take the online tests from the websites the books provide and you will do well. buy the notes from copies now, it makes it much easier to study. he can even make you laugh on a bad day.

Very enthusiastic, humorous, and friendly prof. Go to class, review the notes, and answer the study guide questions, and you'll do just fine. You will definitely need the text to answer the study questions though. I thoroughly enjoyed his class, and I am glad that I had the opportunity to take it.

Still remains one of my favorite professors. Very friendly! Enjoys starting class with a joke. There are some questions on the tests that come out of the book and that aren't covered in the lecture, but it's not so much that you should fail. Just pay attention in class. Should be easy for psychology majors. Loved it!

Yes, there was a lot of material that was in the book and not covered in lecture but that doesn't make him a bad prof. What he did cover was taught well. Every bit og information was found in the text, notes, and listed on the study guide. I pity students that need everything explicitly explained to them in order to do well. This is college. Learn.

Teaches about 10% of the information that are on the exams. Very nice guy and all, but when you have to read an average of 130 text book pages per test, which are extremely hard and do not follow his study guide,it is very frustrating.

Ok..so he's a really cool guy, probably one of the nicest profs on campus..he gives bonus and curves the tests a little...but his exams are pretty difficult, reading the book and studying for them are crucial, because they cover a lot of what wasn't lectured in class

...great guy...he has so much energy & always tries to make the class laugh. I would definitely take him again!! It was easy for me because I already had AP psych in high school. However, for people who have not yet had psych, he makes it fun and easy to learn. take him!!

Awesome professor. Upon first sight you'll think he's too old, but he's extremely active and knowledgeable. Just take/buy notes and read the chapter summary before test day and you'll ace this class. Very lenient on late work. Sitting up front so that he learns your name also makes the class more enjoyable.

By far the sweetest old man in the entire world. The funnest & most interesting class i've ever had in my life. I actually enjoyed being there & i learned soo much. the tests are from the book so u don't even have to go to class if u dont want to. tons of fun in-class activities (counts for bonus) n LOTS OF OTHER BONUS!!! Dr. Thornton is a good prof. and you really do learn from him.The tests are tough.Buy the notes. Be careful with the paper to. He requires it to be APA style and won't tell you that till afterwards. I didn't know and it destroyed my grade. His class is fun and interesting. Just be careful.
