This class was a complete waste of time, and not just because it was at 9 AM and I slept through most of it. Professor Capelli is passionate, but his lectures are boring, and the last few before the final are all about how we're all gonna die. Not exactly uplifting information. Also, this man has an unhealthy fish fetish. Avoid at all costs.

Capelli is an excellent teacher. As long as you come to class and do the readings the class is pretty easy. The tests are not tricky, and questions come straight from readings and notes. Class is interesting and entertaining, and the previous reviewers clearly did not put in any effort or come to class at all.

Do the READINGS! The class is essentially a discussion on how terrible the world is and how we're all going to die. He tends to editorialize and your grade will be impacted if you don't agree with him. He's personally a nice guy and is clearly knowledgeable in his subject area, but he has trouble imparting that knowledge to the rest of us.

The best professors I've had at W&M thus far. Shaped my major based on his class. Every lecture is interesting and relates to everyday life. Absolutely amazing.

Reading and attending lectures are ESSENTIAL if you want to do well in this class. Must take detailed notes because he asks some pretty obscure questions on tests. Many questions come from the readings. Interesting topics for the most part, though some are boring. Cracks some cynical jokes from time to time that are funny. I would take it again.

He shows interest in the environmental studies courses which he teaches, but is unwilling to make himself available to his students.

The class was great, covering a wide range of ecology and environmental topics (predator/prey relationships to global warming to the population crisis). Lectures were very interesting. That said, Prof. Capelli makes the tests SO HARD that you have to take notes on every detail he says, so you can't enjoy the lectures. READ EVERY READING HE ASSIGNS!

I can't think of a better class I've ever taken... ever. Helpful, engaging, interesting. His grading is extremely fair--he doesn't care to nitpick, he just wants to know if you put in the effort and understood what was going on around you. Impossible to fail if you have half a brain and put in the effort. I wish I could take the course again.

capelli is absolutely the worst teacher ive ever had. i was really excited about taking the class and interested in the subject but his tests are just random facts and full of trick questions. the material isnt hard but his tests are impossible. avoid at all costs

Thought this class was going to be easy. it wasnt because there were too many people who cheated which screwed with his curve. The material is straight forward but he makes impossible tests. I was interested in this field and he def had some interesting lectures, but once again, should have been easier than he made it

Terrible class. Not interesting, no text, boring. Tests on picky details and is super mean on it. Arrogant and condescending when I went to speak with him. Don't take.

It's a fun class, but the tests are hard. he tests on very picky details, but then he also gives great curve. he's fun to watch in class because he's so into what he's teaching, but make sure you pay attention to what he's saying as well. there is no text, but he posts articles online, and make sure you read them!

Took Aquatic Eco - the lab was awesome & involved lots of canoeing & walking in the woods, the lectures were either really boring or really interesting. Gives take-home tests but they're not open book and are pretty hard. He's a cool guy, takes the subject matter really seriously.

Professor Capelli is perhaps the best professor I've ever had at W&M. He is enthusiastic about the material and really wants you to understand the subject. The lab is so much fun, too..plenty of field trips! Attend all lectures, read assigned readings, and study. He curves the tests, so as long as you put an honest effort, you'll be just fine.

In-class lecture is the basis of the class. You have to go to class and take good notes to get a decent grade. The tests can be tricky, but luckily he gives a decent curve. It's really easy if you simply go to class.

The material is not hard, but his tests are loaded with trick questions, and there are no homework assignments or papers to bring your grade up. He does curve the tests though, fortunately. He's a bit opinionated, so it helps if you're a plotical liberal. I was disappointed with my grade. He tests sidenotes from class so take good notes.

This guy could put you to sleep faster than a double shot of Nyquil. Seriously. He thinks that anyone who is not a hybrid driving vegetarian should be shot. I'm okay with expressing your views, but jeez - I'm not going to hell for eating meat.

Mind, Morality, Modern Bio or Human Nature or whatever he's calling it is awesome. Just quizzes from easy, very interesting reading. Easiest A in the Bio Dept ever. I disliked his way of expressing opinions in class, but when I talked to him outside class, I realized how nice he was.
