I really enjoy Prof. Zeff! She's definitely one of my favorite English teachers. You do have to read the material (or at least skim it) and write papers on it, but other than that, you should be fine. We did have a class project but it was pretty easy to do and pass. Zeff definitely wants us to think critically and if you talk in class you're good.

Comment:

Professor Zeff is really lax with attendance, but you have to participate in order to get on her good side. She is super cool with everything, but her papers are sometimes a little ambiguous. There are no tests, but there are a few papers. You need to read a lot of literature in this class. She's pretty cool and I'd take a class with her again.

Dr. Zeff is such an amazing professor. She is always there for her students and always was willing to clarify essay requirements. Our class was based on four 3-page essays and 3 easy projects. She allowed you to make two essays 20 points and two essays 15 points (it was your choice based on which ones you felt you did strongly on). Awesome prof.

Be prepared for many handouts! Attendance is not mandatory but incredibly helpful. In class discussions provide helpful points for essays. Midterm was open book. Many of the books can be found at the library. If one thing was gained through her class it would be open mindedness about feminism.

My favorite professor at UMFLINT! She was the first English professor I had and I took her classes the first 3 years at college. She is just that wonderful as a professor. She is kind, always helpful, knows her literature and will always make you feel like you can ask her questions. Take her class!

Professor Zeff is my favorite professor at UM-FLINT. I've taken all her courses over the 3 years that I've been here. Her teaching style is very laid - back but passionate. She knows what she's talking about and she definitely cares. If she's you engaging in the class, she'll grade very nicely. She gets all A+s from me! TAKE HER CLASS!

Dr. Zeff is AWESOME! I thoroughly enjoyed her class. She gives lots of hand-outs that assist in understanding the material and assignments. I wish more professors would do this. She is very passionate about literature and it shows in her teaching style. No exams, just papers with ample time for completion. I wish I could take her for every course.

The grading is very hard. There is no room to error and she does not offer oppurtunities to make up assignments. The reading load is pretty unreasonable if you have any other classes. I wouldn't recommend taking her class.

Where should i start her grading is not fair at all... exams that are worth 25 points are 25% of your so you have no room for error, the books that she assigns are very hard reads and she doesnt give sufficient time for reading. Way too many handouts that she expects you to memorize. Dont take her if you are taking a full load because you will FAIL

This was a very easy class...3 papers and a final exam...that's it! She is very enthusiastic about linguistics and very knowledgeable. Personally, I found the class very boring b/c I'm not interested in it, but overall it was a good class.
