He is a hard prof. He will make you earn an A 3 times over before he will give it to you. That being said he grades fairly and taking his classes does make you a better writer. He doesn't hide his feelings or opinions about a subject and his tests and comments on papers will drive you crazy. Proceed with caution. You have been warned.

The hardest grader on campus, but among the best teachers. Do you want to learn academic writing done RIGHT? He's the only one here who can teach you well. Downsides: full of himself, a potential psycho, and he will push his opinions and interpretations on you. Nevermind. Scholtz builds character and you'll be a MUCH better student after his class.

I enjoyed his classes, but the tests were horrible. Personally, it wasn't intellectually helpful for me to memorize 100 different poems and be able to identify them on the exams. Nonetheless, he's a fun teacher and has great insights.

Despite being known as Dr. Satan on campus, he is a genuinely nice guy. His tests will want to make you slit your wrists with the Norton Anthology of English Literature however. You win some, you lose some.
