Comment:
Dr. Comer teaches physics out of a slideshow which is not a great way to get through physics. He cracks some pointless, senseless, but hilarious jokes all the time which is pretty nice. He has 4 tests all of which are easy if you do his homework all by yourself along with the practice tests.

He is the worst teacher I have ever had. I didn't learn anything all year and he has no idea what he is doing. Also he is usually busy during his office hours and has the worst communication skills. He is unable to use email. He is a joke and doesn't deserve to be paid from my tuition.

He teaches off a powerpoint which is hard to learn for Physics. His tests are all 6 free response questions. His grading is very subjective so it's difficult to tell where he took points off from. The connect assignment and lectures don't relate to the test questions most of the time so idk how to study. Your best bet is to show up to class

If you attend class be ready for some of the worst jokes you will ever hear. Also be ready for his exams because they were pretty hard. I got a B- on the first 2 exams, and A- on the third, and then on the final I got a 100%. The final was a joke and it saved my grade.

Horribly disorganized. He doesn't tell you when homework is due. He doesn't even know when his own exams will be. Lab & lecture don't correlate (both profs are guilty here). Gets distracted by his own horrible jokes in class. It's been over a month since we took the first exam and he hasn't graded them all yet (they were only 6 questions each, too)

Comment:
Extremely irresponsible. He randomly decides when his homework will be due (though he ballparks it to just after he finishes a chapter lecture). It's worse for his tests in which one could suspect even he doesn't know when the next test is. Doesn't hand them back for weeks. Doesn't curve, and doesn't offer advice on how to succeed in his class.

Tough teacher to communicate with. Tests weren't too bad, just make sure you study the big concepts and understand all the practice test problems. Doesn't hand back tests for weeks.

Boring person. He will never tell you when the homework is due. The date of exams are not on his syllabus. It's easy to find mistakes in his lecture. And when I told him, he was too arrogant to think over it. I got 86.83% of total points and the average of the class is only 73.55%. And he only offers me a B. He's the meanest person I ever met.

It took a month for him to grade on our tests. He doesn't give that much partial credit on the tests. His lectures are boring and basically just read the book power points. And he doesn't like biomedical engineers. He won't tell you when the homework is due. He is not very helpful

Physics two was harder than physics one. He doesn't curve the tests which is killer on the grade. He is helpful in going over problems in office hours. He likes to make jokes during class. His tests are hard but the online connect homework isn't too bad.

A good engineer who knows his material, extremely funny/interesting, and helpful. In class lectures are basically him reading powerpoints. Do the practice tests if there is trouble.

Terrible teacher. Took too long to pass back the first test, so the midterm was the Monday after spring break. Assigns homework online without any mention of deadlines during class. Seems like a cool teacher and seems very knowledgeable about physics but his class lectures are boring and straight from the PowerPoint.

In class lectures are completely irrelevant to the material tested. He is stingy when grading, never responds to emails, and takes weeks to hand back tests. Do the homework well in advance because he doesn't tell you when anything is due, and places due dates on assignments well before you will realize they were even assigned.

DO THE PRACTICE TESTS.If you are having extreme problems understanding physics then buy physics for dummies and dont be ashamed. You may not learn something you dont learn in this class, but it will help you to realize that you know more than you think about physics. I got a C on 1st test, then got phys for dummeis, B on 2nd, A on 3rd, B on final

Comer is your best bet for physics. 10 quizzes, 3 tests, and a final. Quizzes are always a homework problem from the excercises section. Textbook is terrible. Answer guide is a waste of money; provides HW solutions online. DO THE PRACTICE TESTS online and you'll be fine. Class is mostly proofs not examples; Allows 1 page cheat sheet for each test

Two halves to the class: -Learning mathcad with weekly partner homework. Sometimes the homework took a while b/c Dr. Comer rushed through teaching this stuff 2nd part: reading a chapter from a physics book and then we discuss it in class, pretty simple and your grade is based on attendance and participation, no tests! fairly easy class

I got a lame C+ because I was trying to pull off 18 credits the first half of the semester, and I screwed up on the first test. Even though I did pretty well on the other tests (B to A- Range) and the final, I still did poorly overall. Dr. Comer is crazy, and he tells the MOST TERRIBLE JOKES EVER. However, I am signed up for Engineering Physics II

I wish he would spread out the point values to test questions a bit. I hate having one problem worth 20something pts and then you get +5 for making a drawing...sounds easy but when you forget you lose a crapton of pts. Studied my butt off for all the tests and barely got out with my skin. He is actually helpful if you can find him in his office.
