I spent hours studying for his tests by going over notes, the book, and the sample exam given. Mastered all of the content and when the tests came around it was completely different from anything he taught and I failed the tests. Worst teacher I've ever had.

One of the hardest professors in Chemistry department, but you do learn a lot in the class. Keep up with the notes and you should be fine. You have to study hard for the tests because that is all the grade is.

Dr. Grant is not quality at all. He is not interested in helping his students, and he does not care about 1110 chem students because he teaches upper level courses. Don't take him. His tests are dumb, and they do not follow anything that he has taught in lecture, or the book. I am a great student, and only make it through with a B-. Do not take.

I studied hard for every test and put hours into this class. I never missed a class and barely passed. He is a hard professor who I would not recommend taking if you are not interested in Chem or have a hard time understanding it.

Do not think "Yeah, it says he's hard, but surely I could do it." You cant. NO ONE is prepared for the level that this man expects you to be at. Please just read the TWELVE pages of negative comments. It will save your GPA and your future career. Take Kutz. He actually acts like a decent human.

Avoid. He is monotone and even if you take good notes it's hard to pass this class. The test questions are completely different than what he teaches. He is not very helpful and usually makes simple theings confusing.I recommend taking this class with a different professor.I wish I had known about this site before I had took his class.

I have taken Organic 1 (with lab),Organic 2 (with lab), Quantitative Analysis (with lab), Calc 1, and Calc 2. All of those classes I got A's. Gen Chem 2 with Grant, I got a B. He makes Gen Chem ALOT harder than it should be. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!

Dr. Grant is a one of the more demanding professors in the department. He is extremely intelligent and willing to help (...if you approach him correctly). He doesn't spoon feed you information and does require a lot on his exams. However, if you can't handle his class, you can forget about being able to handle medical school or graduate school.

This man is the reason I am no longer pre-med. Worst teacher ever. Enjoys seeing students fail, seriously. When he handed me a test that I made a 43 on (that I studied ALL week and pulled an all nighter for) he had the biggest grin I had ever seen from him. AVOID at all costs if you enjoy your major and current GPA.

AWEFUL. His final is a standardized test. A lot harder than the tests he gives throughout the semester. Worst of all, he gives you note cards which you can use as a cheat sheet on each test. Sounds great until you get to finals and you can't use them. I retook the class during the summer and made an A with a different professor. Avoid him.

I was a chemistry major before taking his class. He doesn't explain stuff as well as other teachers. His tests are very difficult. I got an A in the lab for the course so I did know the material, it is just his ridiculous expectations. He also puts questions on the test that he doesnt teach you how to solve in class. Avoid his class if you can

This class is very difficult. I studied very hard for each test and still did poorly. I put in a lot of effort into learning the material and understand the book work but Dr. Grant's tests were not the same degree of difficulty...they were much harder especially for an entry level chemistry course. He gives the impression that he does not care.

One of the worst teachers I have had yet. The test were incredably difficult even for someone who knows what they are doing. I went to class every day, studied, did the practice test. I got an 89 in lab. Could not care less about the students. I decided not to waist my time with the rest of the class.

I did not get to complete his course due to personal illness, several deaths in family, and overall stress. The portion of the lectures that I did attend were interesting and informative. He even allows students to use a notecard on tests for formulas, etc...Impression-university level professor.
