Do not recommend his class unless its your only option to graduate. He is one of the worst instructors I've came across. Teaches so little and expect way too much. Has an unrealistic expectation from students. He doesn't even try to keep the class interesting.

I STILL have nightmares about this guy and his classes, even though I took them over 5 years ago. I still can't believe he gave us quizzes in the now-defunct Flash/Actionscript class. Oh and he had no problem talking about my learning difficulties in front of other students. Nice!

Gwyan doesn't actually teach the course. Instead, he assigns reading and exercises out of books, then uses in class time to for exams and student presentations. The total amount of in-class instruction or even time for questions is negligible. If you have no programming experience you do not take this class. Shame he is head of department.

Seems to preoccupied to teach. Gives difficult assignments, which is fine, however, he does not possess the technology chops to complete his own assignments. He has difficulty answering technical questions and refers students to his assigned text for guidance. I recommend skipping his classes if possible.

This class is easy if you come to class everyday, are on time for the quizzes (which are given first thing), and take good notes/record the lectures. He is approachable &will gladly answer student questions! Oh yeah&DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!! Writing 1,000 to 1,500 words for extra credit is worth it! You can bump your midterm grade up TWO LETTER GRADES!

I've had Gwyan for several classes, and I think he's great! He's very approachable- no trouble to ask his help if you need it. The projects do require a good amount of effort to finish, but the guidelines he sets for them are clear and reasonable. He's also a fair grader and takes effort into account (so keep your code and comments intact!).

He is a terrible teacher. He wants us to rely on text books and videos on the website. He sometimes lecture the class, but not as often. He want us to figure it out on our own. The exercises and projects are hard.

Pretty good. He is known for his lectures, wherein they can be a little long. However, I feel they tie together quite nicely and aren't extraneous to the course. He is a good grader, you have to work hard, but if you do you will get an 'A'.
