Jay at first comes off as demanding and can be intimidating, but show him that you know what you're talking about, and he'll treat you fine. Very funny, and takes the time to answer all questions posed. Irwin Cohen could learn to be a better teacher if he sat in on one of Jay's classes. Jay is humble, not conceited or arrogant like Mr. Cohen.

Ditto to all the positive feedback. Important issue i had was that 80% of the class was marked based on 2 essays. I am a strong writer so this was okay by me, but I didnt feel that those two essays properly assessed my knowledge of canadian politics, more my knowledge of two specific topics. Other than that I love his teaching style, passionate.

An interesting teacher, that makes you attend each class, for you own good. If you take lots of notes during class, you will do good, I did (so far on a A). He is a bit unclear in his oral presentations and it is not easy to get an A in his class!

better than I expected... a bad mouth, lots of swearing out of him...but he makes his lectures interesting and his excitment for the subject is contageos. He got me into politics, and I actually talk about it with my friends, and I'm totally a prissy dumb blonde!

Jay is an awesome political science instructor. He is genuinely interested in Canadian politics and conveys that interest through lectures that, although lengthy, are very interesting. He has a spectacular sense of humor as well. (Great Chretien imitation) There is only a midterm, one paper and a final exam which might be a turn off to some.

Makes Politics interesting,butwhen he says for you to pick a topic, He means he'll TELL you what to do with no explanation unless you demand it. Acts somewhat arrogant. Needs experience IN politics, books don't teach you the real workings of it
