i had to go to tutoring outside of class to understand anything. the tests were unpassable for me, who is usually great at calculus. this was not a fair class and i do not think that the professor did a good job at all presenting the material in an understandable way. he made it much harder than it should have been for an intro calc class.

Probably the best math teacher I have ever had. He actually teaches you the theories and concepts behind the math before he walks you through how the problems. His board notes are better than the book's. He always goes over homework and his tests are straight forward. He like for his students to come to class everyday. If you do, he will help you.

I think he is a good teacher. His lectures were very clear and I understood everything in his class despite the fact that I always believed I was stupid when it came to math. It is quite hard to talk to him though, and indeed he doesn't seem very happy when you ask him for help.

He's a really cool guy if you actually talk to him, which can sometimes be hard with math professors. If you show some interest in the subject and try hard, he will likely curve your grade at the end. Covers a lot of material during lecture and explains most of the information you need. No surprises on tests/quizzes.

Dr. Sherard is a nice professor and willing to explain things to you carefully. Every time I ask him questions, he always tries to give me a reasonable explanation. He replaces quizzes with after class group work which will improve your grade if you have good partners. However, his grading is strict and does not tolerate minor mistakes.

Likes to do problems the long way and never teach the easy ways. Class is boring, but a breeze if you have taken Calculus before. The people that haven't are struggling because he can be confusing. He is nice though and wants to help us if we need it. Does a lot of example problems, and tells us what kind of problems to expect on the tests.

He means well but he sometimes over complicates concepts so that if you don't have a background in calculus you could easy get confused. Tests are a lot like examples so know them but the homework isn't completely necessary. Kind of a quirky guy but very nice and knows a lot about math.

Dr. Sherard isn't very engaging but he knows his material very well and explains it perfectly. If you're not interested in math or good at math I could see how someone might not enjoy his class. If you have a strong math background you will do fine but otherwise I'd recommend taking a different professor. Tests are very predictable which is great

I really liked calc going into this class, however, Dr. Sherard really made the subject painful. He doesn't really like his students, and hates when they don't understand difficult concepts right away. I struggled to pass while my roommate, in the same level with a different teacher, made an A.

Horrible teacher. Cannot teach to save his own life. Went to his office hours once to try and get help. He treated me like i was a waste of space, air, and his time. Worst professor there is at Furman. Then again it's pretty common for the Math Dept.

He is the worst math teacher i have ever had. he is incredibly boring and gets ticked off every time you ask a question. I went in after class to get help and he told me i obviously wasn't reading the book enough (which i was). I have never had the unfortunate experience to meet someone who grades as hard as he does on tests.NEVER TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!!

Absolutly the worst teacher i have ever had. Told me to drop the class because i am not good at math. Hates when you ask questions or for help. Should not be teaching at furman!
