Comment:
Honestly, Bio 211 was probably the hardest class I have ever taken but it has also been my favorite thus far. We covered a lot of material and Landel made sure we knew it well. There were a couple times when I didn't think I would survive the quarter, but I am incredibly thankful for the way that Landel taught and his desire to help us all learn.

Landel was the best science teacher I have ever taken. His goal was always to help the students understand and he spent so much time even outside of class helping and tutoring the subject. The subject itself is hard but he always explained and helped you to the best of his abilities.Very passionate about cellular biology and always helpful.

I thoroughly enjoyed this class, but it was poorly organized as far as due dates, grading expectations, etc. He will not cut students any slack if they have missed a quiz or assignment. You have to be completely independent in the class and go out of your way to get a good grade. You must be dedicated to the class to do well.

Hans really is a great guy. His field trips are a ton of fun and you learn a lot by taking his class. His tests are extremely hard though, and for non science majors this class feels like a majors class because of all the time it takes. Also there is a required 6 hours of service learning. Take him if you love the marine environment!

He has a really great personality and his classes were enjoyable, but he is merciless when it comes to grading. Even though he gives you all the material you need, he does not set you up for success.

He's kind of a strict prof. His tests are really difficult, especially the multiple choice. His grading is difficult, too. Btw, he's really kind with students.

Does not lecture on half the material on the tests. When asked simple questions, he asks you why you do not understand and tells you to look it up. He has a good personality, but it seems he forgot what it is like to learn on the 200 level.

Doesn't lecture on at least half of the required material. When asked specific questions that there is a consensus that the class doesn't understand he tells the class to "look it up". Requires very specific answers without teaching what it is he wants.

I would agree that he is of an affable personality. As for forgetfulness it's in human nature and he executed his instruction well. I enjoyed this hands on class and would definitely recomend Hans.

Hans is a great teacher. His tests are fine if you read the material and study. Got a 4.0 in his class and still had time to party. Love his enthusiasm that he brings to class and the field trips are fun and engaging!!! The trips make the material easier to understand. His lectures are good and homework is medium in weight. READ!!! Labs are fun!

Six words or phrases that describe Hans...Affable, space case, retired hipster, smart, fair, helpful (Note: refer back to space case. He means well.) I enjoyed his class and thought him very helpful. Watch it though, his exams are long and the time is short. More of a majors class with all the time you had to put into it. Show up to class!

He never makes things clear. He changes the schedule all the time, we never know what he is going to do in next class. In a word, this class is poorly organized and hard to follow.

I took his marine bio class. Thorughout the quarter I had no idea what my grade was, except for tests, which were very difficult. Contacted him several times and did not get responses back. I loved the class and learned a lot. Lots of Fieldtrips (Super- Cool). He has a great sense of humor. Just wish he was more organized and able to be contacted.

GREAT TEACHER. Goofy guy. Ask lots of questions and he always has an answer, or he will find it for you. He goes ot of his way to help his students if they are serious. Hard tests. Gives objectives and only objectives are on the test. Would take him again in a heartbeat. Really nice guy.

The lectures are interesting and there is very little homework. I did not read the book at all and I got A's on both of my tests-- you just need to take notes. It is important to study for the tests. They are kinda hard.
