Comment:
Harold is very nice and understanding, but his lectures are super boring and feel like they are right out of the 1990's. His test are actually pretty fair, but he does grade them hard. The group project is worth a lot of your grade, and he does not explain it well. The project is a lot of work, and he marks them very hard as well.

By far the worst professor I have ever taken at SMU. I have a 4.24 GPA and struggled with this course and his tests. Not to mention he is very old fashioned.

Harold may be an old man and old fashioned, but he is a complete sexist. I had a casual presentation (no dress code) and I wore a cap along with many men in my class (I'm a girl). After class he came up to me and said "I recommend you don't wear the hat again" - while a male I presented with who was also wearing a cap was sitting right behind me.

Harold is an old gentleman who announced he is taking a sabbatical next term, and taught just like he knew he was gone next term. No effort, boring, and a lack of enthusiasm. All of his examples are pre-21st century and haven't been updated since then. Unfortunately he is the only Marketing Research prof currently.

Comment:
Very boring classes with long lectures. Hard to stay focused while he teaches in his far less than enthusiastic tone. Slides are not good for studying at all, highly recommend buying the textbook. Unfortunately, he is the only prof who teaches the course so go to class and get attendance marks and read the book to study for tests.

Ogden's class is outdated, convoluted, and on the verge of being completely irrelevant. Teaching by video is a cop-out to begin with but is even worst when they're from the 80s. He insists on using PSPP which is full of glitches. His slide are useless, and his explanations are unclear. Unfortunately he is the only marketing research prof at SMU.

I like him a lot. He cared about the students and their success. His lectures were boring (he's an older man and his teaching style reflects his generation) but he tried his best to engage the class. If you went to class, the instructions for projects were very clear and he would answer any questions you had. Tests were relevant.

Comment:
The class itself is extremely dry and Dr. Ogden does not help the situation. He tries so hard to get the class engaged, but it just doesn't work. His slides lack information and the videos are super outdated. Lectures seem to last forever. However, it is evident that Dr. Ogden wants his students to succeed and understand the material.

HORRIBLY boring lectures with very outdated slides. Uses irrelevant examples and commonly asks the class to engage, even if it's so that he can prove someone wrong. Group projects are big time consumers, but the peer evaluations are weighted and justly reward the hard workers. 90% of test material is from the textbook. Nice man outside of class.

This class wasn't THAT bad the prof was super unhelpful. Lectures are extremely dull and boring. His PPTs & videos are so outdated its crazy. He's kind of miserable and disorganized.

Class is incredibly boring. Harold is an older fellow, uses very outdated references (marketing vids from the 90's). Make sure you get a good group for the term project! The tests can be tricky, his powerpoints don't give you enough info. to really ace his tests. Really nice guy though, I think he can improve on clarity and using modern concepts.

This class is brutally boring! Sports marketing seems fun, but it's not - sadly I feel like it because of Harold. He's not a bad prof by any means, just boring to listen to. Friday classes and 10 for 3 hours didn't help either. Lucky if 10 people showed up. Take a different elective if possible

Just poor. Some people are born to teach, Harold is not one of them. Not friendly at all. INCREDIBLY boring lectures. Difficult tests, alot on material not discussed or in text. Really awful class.

Unapproachable, makes students feel inferior when seeking advice in or out of class, lectures are unclear, and marking procedures are unfair. Do not take unless you have to, and if you have to, don't speak in class unless you like having your opinions shot down and degraded

Nice guy. No tricks, no gimmicks, WYSIWYG. I like his exam. It's a case where you apply all knowledge gained during the semester. Would definitely take another class with him if I could.

he is a good guy but his slides were all from the book. His quizes were sometimes confusing. He also marks the project very hard and he wants the presentations to be without any animation affects otherwise he gives less grades. His class is boring as he teaches everything from the book.
