Unbelievably difficult tests. Be ready to teach yourself the content. If you have a question about something in the textbook, he might know, but in my case, before the final exam a question was asked which he didn't know the answer to but proceeded to ask multiple questions about it on the test.

Dr. Pines uses outdated videos that are sometimes decades old. Additionally, his tests are nearly impossible. Throughout this semester, the average class grade on exams has consistently been in the mid 70's, yet he doesn't curve them or anything. He still uses overheads which he never gives enough time for the class to copy down.

Extremely difficult tests, if you want to pass the exams I would read the chapters three times over, and do the questions given in the textbook. I did bad on a couple tests and when I met with Dr. Pines he just told me I didn't know what I was doing, very unhelpful.

Literally the sweetest old man that will ever teach psych. Loves cheery pie, Japanese art talking to the electronics. He hasn't switched over to power point, likes over head projections, but he gives assignments on the online page. Studied Social Psych so that's his specialty but he's incredible knowledgeable. i seriously recommend his class

For being the chair of the Psychology Department you would know it by the way his door is open and accommodating to crazy students. Work hard and respect your fellow classmate's opinions. You will earn your grade. And yes he has his favorites, but that really does not mean much if you drop the ball. There is no hand holding, either.

Dr. Pines is an incredible teacher, and I don't know why there are bad comments on here. He is very approachable and straightforward about assignments and quizzes. He makes class fun and it goes by so fast. If you have any problems with the textbook, he will personally contact Pearson Education for you. He knows what hes talking about.

By far the worst professor I've ever had at Canisius. Doesn't know the material. Doesn't teach at all - he has students present projects which replace his lectures. His quizzes are misleading, off topic, and always have serious errors which when pointed out causes him to get nasty. Incompetent, useless. Don't take him!

Pines is funny, however, did not give class proper class notes. Disorganized. The entire class had a problem with the quizzes each week which he eventually did take into consideration. Caution! Ask lots of questions and don't be afraid to question him in any way. Study and you'll be all right. Very interesting subject.

Dr. Pines is a really great guy, and he is really willing to meet outside of class to go over assignments and tests. The classes really don't have much to do with what's on the tests, so expect lots of independent work in order to do well. Overall, his class is great and I would recommend taking him!

He is a funny guy, but not a good teacher. I found his lectures pointless and useless. You learn more by reading the entire chapter by yourself. Things he talks about in class are hardly on the exams, which are taken right from the book. HW assignments are fine, tests are hard and you'll need to study. Probably want to take the other PSY professor.

Dr. Pines is a very good teacher. He is funny, makes class interesting, offers a good deal of extra credit, and makes things easy to understand. Tests are easy as long as you read the chapter, and portfolio assignments are not hard and sometimes fun. I took him for three different psych classes and enjoyed all of them.

Dr. Pines is a nice guy, but not a good teacher. He will put a topic on the board and talk about it for like 1 minute then moves on. He's funny, but also seems disorganized. You must read the book religously if you want good grades on the tests

If you want to learn to be a forensic psychologist, do not take this class. If you want to learn about law and laws on psychology in the field, take this class. 10 Q's multiple choice quiz every week and you MUST read meticulously to do well on them. Three peer-reviewed 2-3 page essays. Two peer-reviewed court cases. Two reviews of the essays.
