Go to class, get involved and you will excel in this class. Clair is one of the most understanding professors I have ever had and she will continually support you. She gives incredible feedback and ideas to help you finish your projects to your content.

Kate has a very strong personality that keeps you awake during class. She is a little more lenient than expected. As long as you do the chapters and study for the quizzes its an easy class

She's a great person, but very strong personality and it may not be for everyone. I feel like the projects could have more variety. It's all the same thing just different categories. Very unorganized when it comes to homework and doesn't remember what's due most of the time.

Kate Claire is one of, if not, the best professors KUCD has to offer. I credit her for everything I have learned. I have gotten all of my best work from her class. She is extremely intelligent and pushes you to be the best. Her personality isn't for everyone and can be a little much, but I feel she has taught me more than any other professor

Unorganized. Emails homework less than 24hrs before class. Will make you start over on projects or pieces of a project the day you need to turn it into the print lab. Will call you out if you say: uh, um, like, ya know. Obsessed with key commands. Tells you if you do more youll get extra credit than does not give you credit.

Kate is actually an amazing professor. One that actually wants you to aspire to be the best you can and that's always there to help. She might be a little brash sometimes, but she just wants her students to be the best they can, and wants to push you to your full potential. Having her as a professor certainly made me a better designer.

Prof Clair is consistently late and unprepared for class. We've had 5 type tests so far and every one of them had has several major errors, causing frustration and points lost. She has not shown any examples of contemporary (or classic) typography or given any instruction on creating typographic elements or design. I'm very disappointed.

Try to avoid taking her for classes. Went to other professors for help. She disappears from class for 20-30 mins about every class, sometimes multiple times a class. Makes a strict schedule, odd projects with hardly any concept behind them. Class ends up not following schedule at all. Insulted people who are uneducated and missing teeth.

one does not simply pass kate claire class. you must call her kate. you must never miss class. you must never say 'um' 'like' or 'you know' or she will claim you are unintelligent. you must be at her beck and call the second she says your name. you must remember impossible amounts of useless information for tests. you must not take her.

She knows what she's talking about content wise but definitely has favorites. She is very judgmental and makes assumptions based on stereotypes. If you are one of her favorites, great for you. If not, you will never be an A in her eyes. Worst experience I've had at kutztown was in her class.

Kate knows her stuff like it's the back of her hand. I really did learn a lot in her class. So for technicality's sake, I'm glad I had her my sophomore year transferring into the CD program, it really showed me what I was in for. None of my work from her class will end up in my portfolio, and she's a bit outdated.

overall, i liked kate. she sometimes isn't clear about projects. she's tough and she is NOT afraid to voice her opinion about a project or something in your life. however, i still got a lot out of her class. and if you take the time to get to know her, she's actually pretty cool.

She was wonderful. She was a huge reason why I succeeded. She pushes so hard, but when you are done it sticks with you. I would take her for any class you can. You will work hard, but it is more than worth it in the end. If you want to be better at design, take Kate!

I was skeptical of Clair going into the class because I did not hear so good things, but I totally love her. She is verryy crazy and outspoken, but one of the most helpful professors I have ever had. She isn't afraid to tell you what she thinks, but it always works out for you in the end... she just wants you to produce great work. Great prof!

DO NOT TAKE KATE CLAIR FOR VISUAL THINKING. This woman is so out of sorts that she can't get anything organized. CD is my world and she made me dread it at some points. She overlaps tons of ridiculous projects and gives only one night to finish them. Some say she's better in upper level courses, but this class made me dread waking up every morning.

Don't take her for this class(visual thinking) unless you want to attempt suicide by thumbnails/ projects! Assigned multiple projects at once, mega amounts of outside work, and still wanted everything to be amazing. Very tough grading too. Hopefully she's a better prof in other classes, but my entire class wanted to kill her.

Comment:

Hard class with a lot of outside work. She let us borrow her own copies of the text since it's out of print. You learn a lot and work your ass off. Listen to what she has to say about your projects, but give them your own touch and you'll do fine and get good grades on those. You WILL need to study for tests. At the end, I loved it!
