Awesome teacher! She manages to interest you even with the most boring subjects. If you have a chance to take her, take her class! One of the few LSUS professors that are a natural at what they do. Just make sure to study and go to class!

I really liked her class. She's very entertaining and it wasn't difficult to scrape up an A. The tests aren't that hard, multiple choice, 50 questions. Overall, good class.

Class will have plenty females. Easy class. What you make on the first test is what you will maintain in the class. Form study groups to clarify your own notes (very helpful for indepth tests.) Begin reading assignments asap for class discussions and her tests.

Wonderful teacher! Definately the easiest, most interesting class I've taken this year. The only thing necessary for doing well in this class is quick note-taking, and a quick review of your notes each evening. Also, the material is pretty easy to remember specifically because she makes it so interesting.

I'm not understanding these negative ratings, I took Dr. Powell for a summer course in Intro Sociology, and found her to be very clear, and I really enjoyed her lecture method. (She used an overhead, it was easy to take notes from.) I think she's great, her class was a gravy class, all you had to do was show up and pay attention. I recommend her!

Some of her lectures are not that clear. She does talk fast, so be prepared to write. She will respond to e-mail. But don't expect to have a class discussion on some of the topics, she seems to get offended if people want to discuss the topics. She is decent about letting you out early on Fridays.
