Awesome professor, takes lots of time to explain things you don't understand. Tough grader, but takes time to help you out. Tests are hard, you have to study hard. Weed out course.

Comment:

Class is difficult but manageable. He gives LOTS of partial credit to bump your grade. Lectures are boring and 2 hours long. He records them but I'd recommend showing up to get stuff off the board you won't see online. Material is hard and he expects a lot. Homework and quizzes are very helpful to study as well as the practice exams.

A great professor who possesses an infinite amount of knowledge about biology. He is strict and at times intimidating, but he genuinely cares about the subject and his students, and wants you to succeed so long as you put in the work necessary to do so.

Do not take this professor!! He has raised his voice at my class multiple times because he is in a bad mood. His tests are unfair: he doesn't go over the material but doesn't provide a text book. He is very rude to students, and is not approachable. He is pretentious and gets mad if you put anything else before his class.

Prof. Maurice seems like a great guy. He really cares about the subject matter and has plenty of knowledge about applied science. He is very willing to help you learn but he wants you to think about the information. Ask enuf questions and he leads you to the answer you/he wants. GREAT I really enjoy his labs and his lectures are entertaining.

Don't expect this class to be a breeze. I ended up with a B in the class, but I had to study alot! He gives decent study guides, and its alot of vocab, but if you know if you'll do fine. The final is impossible though, in my opinion. Go to class because he posts powerpoints online, but he adds to them in class. Study the powerpoints!!

Ethnobotany did seem to be an alright class. I definitely was in for a surprise. There is a lot of work and a lot of studying involved. Dr Maurice is a nice guy but does get a bit irritable easily. The class will help you to learn the material and dont expect to breeze by. Work hard and study and you'll do fine.

ok here we go.... i thought this was going to be an easy class. this is the hardest classes i have ever taken. i just took this dumb class to fill a bio credit...huge mistake the tests are sooooooooooooo hard and class and labs suck...avoid at all costs...on all tests class high was a 59. stay away

Seriously, it's plants...It's not going to be exciting. You won't want to come to class. Tests are pretty hard and you never know what's going to be on them. He'll help you out if you're confused. Don't take this unless you have to. Nice guy, though.

Don't let him fool you on the first day of class when he puts on his scary-teacher speech, thats all fluff. He's a nice funny guy who looks a little bit like Fred Armisen. You'll actually need to know things for tests and quizes but will REALLY do his best to help u learn the stuff. Learn to love plant matter.

At first meeting I thought Dr. Maurice was goin got be boring and unhelpful, but I was completely wrong. He goes into so much detail that the hardest of processes are easy to see and understand. Great in both lecture and lab, and helps no matter how stupid the question may seem, I promise!

I had him for ethnobotany and i would highly recommend it! He was a great teacher because he is so passionate. The labs are super easy and the lecture is not too bad. As long as you pay attention in lecture and study your notes, you should do well. Dont bother buying the book cuz you never use it. Great guy!

I took Dr. Maurice for Ethnobotany and I really enjoyed his class. He is incredibly knowledgable and so helpful. If you pay attention and TAKE NOTES you will love this class.

I took this class during the summer and I got a B in the class. He is really nice and easy to understand, and I liked taking it as a summer class. He helps out with anything you have problems with and will try to make you understand it better. If you have to take any class that he offers, I suggest taking him!
