RUN AWAY! He mumbles during lec.& writes TINY (& i sat in the front row).Hard to follow/understand. Makes you feel like an idiot for asking q's. Lab is 3 hrs long w/ 2 hrs of more lec. & rushed expt. He doesn't guide you in lab AT ALL. Primer is the only good thing. BUY IT. Tests are directly from there-He makes mistakes writing tests, catch them!

He is horrible. Run far far away. Chemistry is hard enough already. He makes it so much worse. His lectures are not correlating with his study guides or lesson plans, his labs are mostly lecture and a rushes experiment. Do not take him. Take anyone but him. I dropped his class because of how bad he was. His grading does not make any sense either.

Avoid this guy at all costs. His lectures are useless, just him mumbling the whole time and mocking students. Your grade will be based off exams and labs only. He is rude, hard to understand, and makes you feel stupid. He assigns HW and forgets to collect it. If you're just taking this for GE, make it Pass/No Pass and study your ass off.

2 lab test, 3 exam in total, half of points are multiple choice. His primer helps a lot, pre-test are really similar to the actual test. Self-study is necessary, he doesn't grade hard on reports and home works, but lecture are pretty unorganized. People needs to put more effort in science class, instead of complaining.

Avoid this professor at all cost. His lectures are not very clear (goes off topic). He expects you to learn on your own and when you ask for help he simply yells at you. Most of the time he would make you feel dumb for asking questions.

I attended every lecture and took a bunch of notes, but you all should expect a 30 percent overlap between what he teaches and what he puts on the test

Expect to teach yourself everything. He takes zero accountability when most of his students fail his tests(the tests are extremely difficult) and he doesn't provide us with answers to practice tests or assignments so even though he assigns us a ton of work or practice I have no way of knowing whether I'm doing problems correctly.

Lectures are hard to follow and very unorganized. Wish he laid out a schedule like other professors. Assigns homework but only collected like twice. Everything is based on the primer; tests and quizzes are identical. If you know how to do the problems in the primer, you'll pass the test. 11 labs and 3 exams total. He drops the lowest grade.

Does he even know how to grade? I basically failed every test with 50% on each and somehow I got a B. I'm not complaining but kinda shows you that if a professor doesn't know how to grade his own assignments that he's had for 40 years, then he should be nowhere near teaching students.

Imagine Homer Simpson, but with a bit more chemistry knowledge and a not-so-humorous personality and you get Homer Tong

Tests are ridiculous. He argues that since five people out of 60 got a B or higher on the test, everyone should be able to do the same. If 60% of your class keeps getting failing grades on tests, that should tell a professor something, but he's so stubborn. Heard it's his last year here, so great. Hope he reads this so he knows what he's doing.

Just look at all the other reviews, especially the ones with 10+ likes. He's not meant for teaching whatsoever. Honestly, you're better off showing up for lab and then skipping lecture since he can't teach. You might as well sleep in/go home early and study yourself than sit in lecture for an nearly two hours of nothingness.

Once went up to him to ask an assigned question. 20 minutes later, he gave up because he didn't know how to solve it. Really? Also, one time he accidentally marked a question wrong on a test when it was right, but when I asked him to change it, he didn't because I "should have told him earlier." I'd rather take an extra year than take this him

Don't expect to learn a lot from his lectures. It's hard to understand and follow him, you're better off doing what i did; watching chemistry lecture videos from youtube during his lectures. Not a very good teacher, but he's a good dude. If you can teach yourself chemistry and do the homework he doesn't collect, you're good.E

DONT TAKE. His grading is unorganized. Doesn't return papers when we need it to study. Gave us HW, didn't collect it for the whole quarter. When we told him, he minus points for being late but never collected it to begin w/. We all had 2 days to finish CH1-9 Q (I did 22 pgs) Talks for an hr+ b4 lab, useless. I'm an A student except for his class.

He really enjoys teaching but he can't teach. In lab, he babbles for a solid hour before lab work. Lectures are worse since he's essentially inaudible. He once marked a question wrong but I went to ask him, he refused to change it because it was "my fault." If you want a chance to pass his class, study his primer, which is actually somewhat useful
