Dr. Movehadi is an old-school professor. He is a tough grader and no extra credit was given. He is generally nice and smart but, according to himself, "too old to avoid making mistakes". You also need some skills to recognize his handwriting.

Comment:

Movahedi is a hilarious teacher who knows exactly what he's talking about in Math220. He got off to the wrong start with our class when he ranted "I'll work your asses off" because someone asked a question about Gaussian Elimination. He is very friendly unless you dont do the work. The material was interesting and compelling. See you in Math311w!

I'm fairly forgiving with professors. Even I didn't like him. He is not specific at all about what you should study for, and he gets very defensive when you ask a question in class. He is very condescending as well and acts like everyone is a natural like he is at math. Grading is inconsistent. He is a nice guy, but he's not a good instructor.

I took this course during the summer and had trouble with other teachers for math 22, considering I am a business major. This teacher was the best that I have come across at Penn State Altoona. He is very easy to understand, goes right along with the book, and his exams are almost the same as homework that is assigned.

TERRIABLE PROF. MAKES YOU MEMORIZE 1,000 FORMULAS, AND DOESNT EXPLANE ANY OF THEM. YOU CANNOT "MEMORIZE MATH," BUT THATS WHAT HE WANTS YOU TO DO. EVERYBODY IN MY CLASS IS TAKING IT FOR THE SECOND OR THIRD TIME, CAUSE HE CANT TEACH. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

He's by no means a student's teacher. He is hard and doesn't exactly click too well with the students. But the way he teaches; he really understands that most people aren't going to use the math skills in real life just the critical thinking skills so he makes an effort to highlight a little bit of philosophy behind the concepts. interesting class

HE SUCKS!! I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD COME TO A MATH CLASS WRITE SO MANY NOTES. ALL HE DOES IS COPY WORD FOR WORD FROM THE BOOK. YOU'RE BETTER OFF SKIPPING CLASS AND READING THE BOOK, AND THEN COME TO CLASS FOR THE QUIZ HE GIVES EVERY FRIDAY. AND AS FAR AS HIS PRESENTATIONS GOES, HE'S OK, NOTHING SPECIAL ABOUT HIM. This professor sort of just narrates the textbook. I personally found the textbook to be more helpful. He is a ok teacher, but the content of the course is just so mind-numbingly boring, in my opinion (and I like math!). Office hours are helpful if in a tight spot. I did not enjoy this course and am neutral on the teacher.

WORST professor I have ever had. More than 50% of the class had to drop. Makes fun of students when asking questions - tests are ridiculous and questions have never been seen before. This professor is TERRIBLE. DO NOT TAKE. I went into his office hours for help, and his response was well all I have to take you is do the homework. Like Borat teaching Diff. Equations. Professor Movahedi is hilarious. Compared to my professors at a SIT, he makes MA 250 very understandable and easy to relate to. Movahedi can have a little difficulty expressing his concepts, however he is more than willing to help u and really does care about his students. Do the HW and study accordingly.

Overall a solid professor. Doing well on the quizzes is key to this class. Test are hard to predict, so much of the classed did poor because of it. Not an easy grader but he will help his students who stuck it through in the end.

The class itself was easy for me so I can't really rate how well he teaches. But I'd take this class again just to hear his crazy sayings. The only thing more abstract than his concepts are his methaphors.
