I really didn't know what to expect from Professor Marshall. Turns out he is a good guy who cares about his students and is an absolutely wonderful person. I love the things he talks about and he is a good grader who is always available outside office hours and is great. He also plays guitar and has an excellent singing voice.

Comment:

One of my favorite English professors in Altoona. He is a very driven professor who cares for his students and is easily accessible if you need help with any exams or papers. We were given one group project, two exams, and two papers. If you think he is difficult, wait until you go to State. Good luck.

You know how in the movies you see this one professor waltz into a student's life and completely transforms said student's life for the better? Well, that was what Ian Marshall was for me. He is an INCREDIBLE teacher and I look forward to taking as many of his classes as possible.

He is an awesome teacher. He is funny and rambles on sometimes. The work he gives is easy and as long as you do the study guides, you'll get A's on the quizzes. He loves Thoreau and is an inspiring teacher. He makes class fun!

Dr. Marshall is a cool guy. There are alot of readings, most of which are pretty cool. He wants his students to do well. There are alot of in-class quizzes on the readings, so it's important to go to most classes. Tests are long but not too hard. He is a tough grader on papers, but gives you the chance to do revisions.

He is a nice guy, but an extremely hard grader. He covers a lot of information and you have to know it all. He tells you straight up if he does not like how you write BUT he helps you change it to the way he wants it. If you want an easy class this would not be one to take. Very difficult, but I learned a lot from him

He is a fabulous guy especially if you love the outdoors and love being outside. We took a hiking trip, did work in the stream on campus and work in the wetland. He quizzes on pretty much every reading but if you read you'll do fine and he is a stickler for attendance if you miss too much he will talk to you about it. I recommend him 100%!

Sorry to say, but I really dislike the class. I lost interest talking about superego, id, etc.. I got a C in his class, and that's because I did the extra credits which are helpful. I love English, but this class was too boring. He grades hard, but he is an okay guy.

Dr. Marshall is a great prof. He is helpful and fun in class. I'm not a big history person, but this class was so much fun! If you take this class-read everything, study, and ask questions that you need clarified. Final was tough, but studying from the beginning should help. Know your terms, quotes, and concepts. This is a GREAT class!

Poetry sucks but it's easy with him...don't bother doing the reading he'll read it to you. It's so simple. Mid Term, Final, and 2 papers. Attendance counts and he offers up to 5% in bonuses and extra credit. Take him even if you don't like English!

Dr. Marshall is an awesome prof. He is extremely helpful. He does expect students to do the work, as any prof does. I would HIGHLY recommend him. He is fair to each student in grading and expectation, english major or non. If you're not sure about something, just ASK. With this prof, NO student needs to fear--Ideas and creativity are welcome!
