Professor Good was anything far from Good. Individually graded each online homework out of 100 and was very inconsistent in his grading. Not all assignments are due at the same day/time which goes against his policies in the syllabus. Requires you to purchase his own textbook he wrote. Was an absolute headache, avoid him if possible.

Pretty easy online class. 13 discussion posts with one response for 50% of grade & 2 essay tests for the other 50%. Professor Good mostly just wants you to analyze & give your take on contemporary news stories & issues. Just be creative & thoughtful in your analysis & you should do fine. A fair bit of reading is involved, but it's not too much.

Professor Good is a fantastic teacher who I couldn't recommend nearly enough. He clearly loves to teach and is always stimulating conversation and encouraging his class to ask questions. He is very funny and "in your face" but in a good way. Because of this, his style may not be for everyone. Texting in class is maybe his biggest pet peeve.

Professor Good was an amazing Professor who challenges other people's ideas. The Classroom discussion really made me think about things that i don't think of. The class was very mind opening. Listen to the conversations and Participate in class and most likely you will do well. Some tips are brush up on reading, because we did read alot.

Dr. Good is a fantastic professor. I had the privilege taking his DMJ347 class online. If you engage yourself in the work, you will thoroughly enjoy and succeed in this course. His passion for and knowledge of JRN ethics paired with his ability to effectively communicate ideas will inspire and motivate you to become a more informed individual.

the professor believes that understanding the content is more important than grades so if ur a student shooting for an A, u might get annoyed. otherwise an easy class, just participate in discussions. i found the textbook online. the earlier you post on blackboard, the higher the grade u get (because he doesn't like repetitiveness in discussions)

He is tough(as a person & grading)! There is at least one short writing assignment per week. There are also a couple video assignments. I believe he's a great and knowledgeable professor, but he's NOT for everybody. I personally didn't like him very much. Read the news(NYTimes) and improve your writing early on in the class then you might do fine.

I graduated in '97--I haven't spoken to Dr. Good since then, but I asked him recently for a grad school recommendation. He remembered me, despite thousands of students in between. He cares about his students. Don't waste his time (or your own) and his classes will be rewarding.

I'm also in this class and I'm a in PR. I admit there was a bit of a seperation between PR and Journalism in the beginning but he is a great teacher and a nice guy who's honestly there to help if you're actually paying attention!

Howie is hands down one of the best professors I had at New Paltz. He's EXTREMELY intelligent and truly cares about his students in a way many profs don't. He doesn't push his beliefs on you but rather makes you THINK. I went into the real world with a confidence I don't think would have existed w/o Prof. Good's influence.

Professor Good is one of the most intelligent & most mentoring teachers in the journalism department. I am presently in my second class with him & I am taking another one with him next semester. I have learned so much from him and I am a PR major --he never bashes the profession, he just raises ethical concerns that no PR major should ignore.

The person who commented below is presently in my class and completely wrong. Professor good is one of the most amazing professors i have ever had in college thus far. He gives plenty of time for students to speak, in fact he encourages it. Any student would be lucky to take this class. This inst a class about praising PR students get over that.

This is the man you need to take Media Ethics, or you will really lose out. He actually speaks his mind and is extremely passionate about ethics. He really opened my mind on what it is to be ethical. His class isn't easy, but I wouldn't say he makes it hard either. Oh, and leave your cellphone off.

Prof. Good can teach you a whole lot, if you let him. He's a tough professor and he can be intimidating, but once you get past that, he's really great. He's interesting, intelligent, and genuinely cares about his students. One of the best professors I have ever had, without a doubt. I'd recommend his classes in a heartbeat.

Guy is the man. Ended up taking 3 classes with him, all of which were intense, but fun as hell. You learn a lot. One teacher I will keep in touch with..never thought it would happen. It's funny watching people take one of his classes for the first time. Take him, and watch classmates who aren't prepared get scared when he stares them down. Classic.

I'm not sure I can add anything unsaid. He's amazing. No one can make you think the way he can. He'll argue something he doesn't even believe, just to make you sure you understand your point of view. Do not drift off in his class, he yells. Brilliant, thoughtful, intense, probably the best professor I've ever had. He's life changing.
